Excellent value for money. Comparable to a Roso di Montalcino. Beautiful tart cherry and nice acidity. Overall, a very pleasurable bottle.

Like a big warm hug from Tuscany. Dark cherry, touches of toast dark wild cherry. Subtle little heat on the finish and long, LONG lasting on the tongue. Bargain at $22, amazing I got it for sale at $13!

(Tasted Blind): Light purple in colour. A bright nose redolent in sour cherry, lightly steeped raspberries and vivid strawberry accented by a cigar box note. A well-extracted, full-bodied wine with excellent red fruit purity and sandy texture with a mid-palate richness dusted with spice and a gorgeous finesse and long finish edged by compact, chalky tannins.

Рубиновый цвет средней плотности, прозрачное. В аромате чёрные ягоды, молотый перец, уголь, табак, дерево, пряные ноты, кофе американо, кожа. Во вкусе среднее тело, кислотность выше среднего, умеренные танины. 88/100

Built around a core of the most delicious cherry fruit. Very pure with a touch of earth. Tannins are supple and supportive and it has just the right amount of chew. Perfumed fruits linger.

Last bottle - some age on rim - red wine aromas probably cherry and some vanilla - medium length well balanced red with cherry / blueberries, soft tannins and good acidity to make it a perfect good value food wine.

very regrettable. still fruit but it smells awful like rotting cabbage and tastes like cheap fruit that's been messed with in an attempt to make it palatable.

Great QPR. Very nice table wine but with more elegance, substance, fruit and depth than a typical table wine. Good with food. Rich medium palate and good length. Well integrated, no hard notes. Velvety and smooth with a medium body. Very easy to drink and accessible, maybe a bit too luscious and ripe yet not clawing or overly sweet. Good fruit. I like and would recommend at price point. Have a 2010 that am now curious about.

We lunched on darn good, neighbourhood style food at SPQR in San Francisco. Given the eclectic and varied wine list, we had to try a few we did not know. Juicy-fruit forward, very smooth blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Querciabella tasting seminar (Osaka) : Your budget Supertuscan. Mongrana is a nice wine, very pure with red plum and cherry aromas. The oak is not heavy and gives just a spicy hint. In the mouth it tastes very fresh, the acidity is pronounced while body and tannin are medium. I was expecting it to be a little bit more intense on the palate, tannins are very delicate, but it can be somewhat sharp. I would see it well with some …

Ordered off the wine list at MKT in San Francisco. Dark garnet with a little brick tint. Nice earthy nose with some smoke and leather along with the blackberry, black cherry, and vanilla. Medium palate with juicy blackberry, black cherry, and minerals. Very good finish. Brilliant acidity. Mild tannins. Extremely food-friendly. Good QPR.

Very drinkable Tuscan IGT. Herby dark fruit nose, with well balanced greenish tannins in a cherry dominated fruit mix. May develop more complexity with age but easy to drink now. WoFW 12.5/20

We had a couple of bottles at dinner - excellent choice for a broad group of non-winos. Lighter style, balanced, yet fruity enough to appeal to everyone. Worked both on its own and with the food. Very nice at its price point.

Aromas and flavors of dried strawberries and cedar. Too round and lacking the acidity I like from Tuscan wines - too much of a cab/merlot/international style.

The wine was bright medium to dark ruby in colour. It offered red & dark fruits, sweet spices and some earthy notes on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine was juicy, with cherry, red & black currant, some blackberry, mild spices, low to medium tannins, very good acidity and good length. Easy-drinking. Great QPR. Drink now.

open for two hours: nose - light oak; taste - light-to-medium-bodied mouth feel, tastes of spice and leather rather than fruit, offers up a medium-length finish consisting of slightly-sour chalk and anise; overall: pleasantly rounded Old World style but lacking in fruitiness -- for an Italian beauty at the same price point (approx. $15.50), I would opt instead for Allegrini Palazzo della Torre.

Again - very similar notes to the prior wine - dark and ripe with notes of tar and iodine over dark plum and cherry fruit. Same dark ripe notes on the palate - still strong with firm acidity and tannins but a really good food wine. Complex with lots of character - very good.

Tne quintessential 89-point wine: well-made, flavorful, and smooth, but lacking that extra bit of complexity that would make it really special. Great with pizza.

The 05 Mongrana has developed a bit of funk in the last year or so, and it's still a dark, rich super-tuscan blend that continues to be a good buy. The current stink makes it interesting.

For $15 this is hard to beat and a great advert for Italian wine. Slightly funky, but with sweet fruit and notes of herbs and wood on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet cherry and currant fruit, slightly sour with a definite acidic bite, but also some creaminess and richness on the finish. A great food wine, even a bit of bread and cheese does this wine wonders. Wish i had 11 more not just one....

Fairly grapey with good depth, some leather and earth as well. Bright and fresh out of the barrel kind of smell to it.Sweet fruit and leather and tobacco on the palate with a decent lengthed juicy palate. Great QPR, but give it another 6 mos - 1 yr to trade in a bit of grapey youth for a touch of development.

Rock solid wine. I really can't imagine anyone who enjoys European wines not enjoying this. It's extremely smooth, it's got silky tannins, and some nice flavor. It's not complex or interesting enough to break the 90 threshold, but it's darn close and I would (and have) buy again. 89+

Very good for near time consumption -- next couple of years. Not over the top but just well made sangiovese with typical Querciabella balanced acidity to match with food. Excellent value at <$16. Worthy of a case purchase if you have room.
