2015 Ruggabellus Timaeus was an aromatic firework of red fruits and natural wine funk. The Barossa Valley Grenache-based wine was clear and pale ruby in colour with significant amount of sediments. I followed the recommendations of CellarTracker communitiy to aerate the wine in-bottle for an extended period of time, which was five hours before the first sip in my case. There were impressive aromas of raspberry, red cherry, thyme herbs and cola, followed by farmyard, raw meat and a touch …

Cherry and raspberry, herbaceous, meaty yet pretty. Grenache dressed as pinot. Outstanding length and bouquet. I wish all ruggabellus wines were consistent like this it would make it a no brainer buy every year. Oh the fun with natural wine. Abel has done an amazing job with this one

Trying the suite of Ruggabellus reds next to each other for the purpose of comparison, and tasting them over a few days to give them the time they need to open up. The Timaeus 2015 is a blend of 83% Grenache, 7% Mataro, 7% Cinsault and 3% Syrah. 13.2% alc. Day 1: Bright transparent ruby-red colour. Opened for an hour before trying, looks smokey, musty and a little bretty. High acid, quite tangy. Day 2: The horsey Brett seems to …

GMs - Casual Fridays October 2017 : Stalk, musk, cherry and spice. Fresh and bright flavours, with good texture and clean acidity. Light in style but still had depth. Really pleasant to drink even in its youth.

Expressive and highly perfumed nose of rose petals, sage, mint, red fruit and earth. It is very savoury in the mouth with plenty of earth and some smoked meats. The fruit comes across as perfectly ripe cherries and the wine is quite supple and silky against the gums but with no lack of depth or power. It finishes with saline minerality.

Opened for about 30 hours. Transparent light red in colour, un-fined so a bit cloudy. Pretty, earthy, fragrant, quite far up on the raspberry/strawberry spectrum with a bit of rose petal and some sappy whole bunch influence too. Really intriguing on the nose. Light bodied palate, very bright and juicy with nice lasting acidity. Light on the tannins but still has some structure in the form of bright acids and mid-palate fruitiness. Feels resolved to drink now as it's plainly …
