Le Mans of 2008 Champagne magnums; 5/9/2025-5/10/2025 (Chicago, IL) : I. One of the more nondescript wines of the tasting tonight. It's pleasant enough, with maybe a bit more yellow than white fruit. It presents with a tight structure. Currently, it reveals minimal complexity, showing subtle hints of green apple and citrus zest. A few more years of aging could unlock its true character and depth.

From magnum, the wine is from an old family plot of Chardonnay planted in 1947, produced in 1,191 magnums only, disgorged in May 2020 with 2 g/l dosage after over 10 years on the lees. Pale yellow. Very fresh, even with the additional aging. After about 30 minutes of air, lemon curd starts to take over, with some white flowers and a little green apple on the finish.
