Very interesting Central Coast single varietal offering. Dark ruby color with a garnet rim. Plush aromas of black fruit, violets, smoke and wet slate. Blackberry plum, black raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavors with hints of black pepper and dark bitter chocolate. Long, dusty and mineral laden finish. Plush soft tannins, fruit forward and quite fleshy. Wonderful balance and perfectly aged. Another unique and well crafted Bonny Doon wine.

This is drinking very well straight after opening. Lovely balance of acidity, fruit, and earth.

Served with apricot/chili glazed chicken, broccoli, rice. Medium purple - young and vibrant. Nicely aromatic, violets and cloves laying on the fruit. Acid and tannin present to sidle up to the food - good finish, anise in this one. Drinking surprisingly well right now. Reminds me of the original BD Contra.

Six Nations Wine Challenge 2018 (Manjit's Wharf, Sydney) : lightweight red berry fruit, slight tobacco leaf, sweet spice, cream and vanilla. Juicy, fleshy, red berry fruit and spied, balanced. Nice.

After 6+ years in my cellar, I opened one for dinner. Typical mourvedre nose: barnyard initially, then dark fruit and spice. Very smooth on my palate, dark fruit is prominent. Wish I had more of this vintage. It was worth waiting to drink.

Slightly mildewy smell that mostly blew off. Balanced more toward acidity than the 2001. Nice fruit and earth. Long finish.

This was very nice. Just mature, complex interesting nose - dark fruit with a meaty, bacon note, hints of thyme and anise. Palate is pretty smooth, not overly long or complex, but nice soft blackberry and currant fruit with a smoky finish. About right maturity - don't think this has long to go.
