Deep, dark reddish-purple in color; almost opaque. Full, forward & aromatic nose of dark fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, some floral notes, herbs, spices, minerals & a touch of cedar in the background. Dark and somewhat brooding. Nice depth and lift with charcoal and a plodding plum coulis. Some persistent tannins. I’d suggest decanting. Drinkable.

Red tart cherry fruit, dusty tannins. Hint of eucalyptus. Modern style with enough acidity to let you know it's Italian.

Modern style. Very woody. Lots of oak tannin and not enough fruit to overcome it. Based on this one bottle, I think the fruit is starting to dry out and leaving a frame of oak tannin. Not my thing at all.

Modest bouquet, showing greater expression on the palate. Balanced, with good roundness. Had hoped for a little more power and depth.

At Acquolino in Rome. This had a muted nose, on the palate ripened mascerated red fruit and faint tannins. Medium bodied and good, just simple, not terribly exciting in comparison with other outstanding tuscans we have enjoyed over the past few days. Tonight with pasta and clams.
