Domaine Laleure-Piot Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile des Vergelesses

Exceeded expectations. In a lovely spot with a nose of damp forest floor, wood smoke and floral notes riding over sweet cherry. Palate is red cherry pie with some baking spice, bramble, a little charred wood.

Super funky and sous bois nose. Nice fruit with some oak on the back end.

Like the the other note a reduced nose. It's ready to drink now. I recommend decanting for an hour before drinking.

Opened bottle. A little funk was there for about thirty minutes. It was not bad, but normal from an older bottle. The wine was cherry pie. It drank wonderful. In all their were 15 burgundies opened and this was number 2 next to a 1993 burgundy.

Very reduced nose that blew off a bit after decanting. Very reduced palate. Once you get through the reduction -- black cherries, a bit of wood, real soft tannins.. Excellent mouthfeel. If the reduction dissipates with some bottle age, this will make for a real nice bottle of wine.

What a nose. Just beautiful and expressive aromatics pouring out of the glass. Tannic and tight on the palate but surprisingly not shut down. Well built and structured with the savigny/pernand "gout de terrior" pungency that I look for in these wines. Oak not very obtrusive... give this gem 10 more years and it should be singing. The vintage hype seems to be founded. I like this a lot.
