Decanted 1 hour ahead. Ruby color with a bit of orange at the edge. Nose is complicated by a draft of alcohol, indicating the 14.1% level there. Once it blows off, we get a seductive blend of strawberries, baking spice, earth notes, and pencil shavings. Assertively juicy on the palate, with hints of vanilla and clove along a strong backbone of pleasant acids. The finish is long and mouth-coating, pleasantly tart with low tannins.
