The bouquet is rich and dense, showcasing the Barossa’s acclaimed regional characteristics. Fresh fruitcake and licorice are balanced by slight leafy notes from the Cabernet. Oak adds lovely spice and toast nuances, and there is a slight peaty edge. This is a wine that inundates the senses. The Shiraz imparts dark, sweet fruits and lush, fine tannin that the Cabernet restrains with structural drive and vibrant cassis. The careful selection of 100% new oak, predominantly French, supports the fruit while …

Still an archetypal expression of Barossa Shiraz Cabernet. Lovely vino!

Beautiful expression of Barossa Shiraz Cabernet. Glorious deep fruit, lovely mouthfeel with a touch of spice, pliant tannins, just enough acidity and a long satisfying finish. So pleased we have a couple left.

Lovely spicy Shiraz Cabernet blend. Lively acidity and bright red fruit. Nice mouth feel but not jammy or hot. May only have a couple of years to peak of possibly even at its best now.

Juicy, mentholy, quite fruit forward and bold. Spicy Shiraz on the palate with CS blackberries on the nose. Not much elegance, but I didn't expect it here.

Nose has lots of fruit, the is evident oak and a nice amount of vanilla. On the palate there is plenty of dark fruit, plum and ripe cherry, mocha, tobacco, liquorice and spice. Lovely mouth coating texture but also a long drying finish. Tannins are integrated but adequate to carry the alcohol.

"2011" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/17/2010-10/22/2010 (Blue Mountains, NSW) : {screwcap} Pre-release? Decanted for an hour beforehand. Vanilla and coconut dominates the nose to the exclusion of all else. The palate does reveal some spiced raisiny fruit, but it’s still dominated by (presumably oak-derived) coconut flavours. Clunky acid, full chalky tannins and a very warm finish add up to a full-bodied wine of great intensity. But the finish is shorter than it should be, and rather baked …
