Like our previous note (the '15 we drank in '21) this now 11 years from harvest GSM is tasty juice and holding up just fine, thank you. Fruit forward, but no bomb here... average wine but good.. rough and rustic upon opening. got better with time.. so needs a little air.. on the nose and the palate the berry notes were less obvious than i expected them to be. perhaps this is the style? never quite got to the crescendo of flavors i was expecting from the GSM. simple.

Blind: Med transparency but a little towards the purple end of spectrum to believe it was Pinot. Had some hints of Mourvèdre on the palate and so went the direction of GSM in guess. Nose was not terrible expressive palate shorter than I would’ve liked though did appreciate it as a pleasant glass

Impulse purchase @ Costco, 14.0% abv, $7. Blend of Grenache (39%) Shiraz (37%) & Mourvèdre (24%). Popped and poured. Blackberry, black plum, cherry, bramble and spice aromas and flavors. Fruit forward medium to long finish. Medium to full bodied. Served with cheese, tomato, beef and pasta casserole.

Day 1: Sweet wine with floral, ripe fruits, coffee and bramble. Not as bad as the last bottle but far from something I would drink on a regular basis. 85 points Day 2: Surprise an improvement. Bramble, raspberries, dust, floral and coffee. More complex and simply better on day 2. Based on this hold these for a few years to reap the benefits. 87 points

Day 1: Settle down everyone on the scores on this wine. 90 plus? Manufactured wine with floral, spice, water chestnuts and subtle fruit. This is a simple, easy drinking wine. This is excellent value and better after a day or two when everything integrates. 12 months (presumably all or mostly old) french oak, 14% ABV, towards the light end for the Barossa, 39% Grenache more apparent on opening & the aromatic profile shifting towards Syrah and Mourvèdre with air.

Didn't find the nose as muted as others say. It combines red fruit, floral notes and perfume. It's not huge, but it certainly fills up the ol' nasal cavity. The palate begins with a cherry explosion, along with mushroom, strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, sage, potting soil and ash. There is the noticeable barnyard presence, but it is just enough to add some interest on top of the general deliciousness. It has a long evolving finish that eventually turns rather savoury.

A little muted nose, some prune and the slightest touch of bret, not at all intrusive, just adds a little wildness. Quite tannic on entry, but then the lovely full bodied fruit and good balancing acidity comes through to a long well balanced finish. Overall a pretty pleasant wine, a little more serious than your average aussi fruit bomb, a good balance of fruit, acidity and tannin - could probably do with a little age/air in future.
