A single bottle I bought recently. 13% ABV. Decanted for two hours in the morning, poured over dinner. Medium-bodied. Mostly bacon, smoke, tar, and spices on the palate, with good concentration. Intensely tarry and smoky, almost to a fault, and not easy to get past. Tamed and drank well paired with a sushi bowl. A great producer, and a famous vineyard, but this wine is from the earlier days and not comparable in the class to the more recent vintages, …

Third bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Not decanted, opened three hours in advance. Concentrated but light on its feet (12.5% ABV), firm acidity and firm tannins with a paper-fine texture, still quite tight and youthful, sandalwood and spices, crunchy red berries and a touch of cassis, transparent and well-defined, dark chocolate creams, complete finish with very good length. Drink now - 2032+. I will try to keep my hands off my remaining bottles for …

Second bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Decanted for 90 minutes to let it stretch its legs. A cool and minerally wine, still quite tight and youthful, volcanic smoke, bright and fresh fruit (lime zest, wild strawberry, cranberry), elegant and light on its feet (12.5% ABV), clear and precise, hint of spiced cream, paper-fine but grippy tannins, very good resonance and length. Exciting wine, the finesse is there, it needs a few more years to …

Red fruit, mainly currant, also raspberries, quite spicy and smoky. It needed some minutes in the glass to open, but developed well after some minutes.

First bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Decanted for three hours to improve the oak integration. A stylish wine, pure and fragrant, bright red berries and spices, fresh and supple, elegant (12.5% ABV) and minerally, silky and harmonious, transparent and precise, youthful finish with very good length. Will continue to improve.

First impression: Red currant, strawberries, light on its feet. Still young, aeration is beneficial, the red fruit is pure and the wine increases its weight. Very good, better to wait a year or two.

13% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar. Beautifully luminous, translucent and somewhat pale ruby red color. Quite robust and spicy nose with aromas of peppery spice and roasted exotic spices, pine needles and other coniferous forest notes, brambly black raspberry, some strawberry, light smoky tones, a little bit of savory wood spice, a hint of cranberry marmalade and a touch of gamey meat. The wine is firm, spicy and medium-bodied on the palate with dry flavors of sour cherries, brambly black …

Nase mit schöner typischer Pinot Noir Kirsche, floral. Am Gaumen geradlinig, sauber. So soll ein Spätburgunder sein.

13% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar. Translucent, pale pomegranate color with a thin, colorless rim. The nose feels dry, somewhat smoky and noticeably spicy with aromas of peppery Pinosity and roasted exotic spices, some crunchy redcurrants, a little bit of earth, light brambly raspberry tones and a hint of cherry. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and crunchy on the palate with flavors of redcurrants and tart lingonberries, some peppery Pinosity, a little bit of smoke, light stony mineral tones, a …

Typical light-colored Pinot noir. Nice tearing in the glass. Bouquet very light and fresh. Possibly a bit of apple, otherwise cherry and grapes, blueberry Beautiful long, elegant. Strawberry and vanilla with certainly a level of light oak. Nice structure and acidity with lively gentile tannins.

IMW-(mostly)2018 VdP GG tasting (Army&Navy Club- London, UK) : There’s noticeable reduction to the nose that is a bit distracting as it doesn’t really blow off in the glass. Beneath that reduction lie tones of dark red cherries, raspberries, sour red berries, smoke notes, tobacco, earth tones, and some roses. There is good depth to the nose, but the reduction just dominates too much to really let the fruit express itself. The Medium bodied feel is balanced, but the reduction …
