A single bottle I bought recently. 13% ABV. Decanted for two hours in the morning, poured over dinner. Medium-bodied. Mostly bacon, smoke, tar, and spices on the palate, with good concentration. Intensely tarry and smoky, almost to a fault, and not easy to get past. Tamed and drank well paired with a sushi bowl. Third bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Not decanted, opened three hours in advance. Concentrated but light on its feet (12.5% ABV), firm acidity and firm tannins with a paper-fine texture, still quite tight and youthful, sandalwood and spices, crunchy red berries and a touch of cassis, transparent and well-defined, dark chocolate creams, complete finish with very good length. Second bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Decanted for 90 minutes to let it stretch its legs. A cool and minerally wine, still quite tight and youthful, volcanic smoke, bright and fresh fruit (lime zest, wild strawberry, cranberry), elegant and light on its feet (12.5% ABV), clear and precise, hint of spiced cream, paper-fine but grippy tannins, very good resonance and length. A stylish wine, pure and fragrant, bright red berries and spices, fresh and supple, elegant (12.5% ABV) and minerally, silky and harmonious, transparent and precise, youthful finish with very good length. Will continue to improve.

Typical light-colored Pinot noir. Nice tearing in the glass. Bouquet very light and fresh. Possibly a bit of apple, otherwise cherry and grapes, blueberry Beautiful long, elegant. Strawberry and vanilla with certainly a level of light oak. Nice structure and acidity with lively gentile tannins.

IMW-(mostly)2018 VdP GG tasting (Army&Navy Club- London, UK) : There’s noticeable reduction to the nose that is a bit distracting as it doesn’t really blow off in the glass. Beneath that reduction lie tones of dark red cherries, raspberries, sour red berries, smoke notes, tobacco, earth tones, and some roses. Académie des Cinquante Baden Visit; 9/11/2019-9/13/2019 : Volcanic soils, 16 months in barrique, 60% new. French clones, selection massale Armand Rousseau, 40% whole bunch. Lovely nose, smoky depth, floral stalks; elegant and energetic, Burgundian style, ripe fruit, energy and grip, red and blue fruit, lovely line and length. Drink 2023-2032.
