Lagar de Costa, Albarino, Rias Baixas

Pale lemon in the glass, aromatic nose of orchard fruit, palate is dry and expressive, yellow apple, pear, quince, nectarine, note creamy, bit of salinity, note of blossom, acidity is high, body medium +, finish lingers. Fantastic QPR very nice.

Dry and tart. Somewhat austere with a lot of minerals. Fruit is very subdued; almost in the background instead of up front. I didn't pay very much, because it's not worth very much.

Second tasting from same Coravined bottle in a week. This was a comparison to an Italian Pinot Grigio. There is a phenolic bitterness to this wine that makes me think there was some skin contact. I called it lemon curd last week but it really is more like lemon pith or zest. It will be interesting to taste a few more Albarinos and see if I can count on that bitterness to differentiate from P.G. Drink up.

Appearance is clear, pale, lemon. The nose is clean, with med(+) intensity. The palate is dry, with med acidity, med alcohol, med(-) body, med(+) intensity, and a med(+) finish. Notes of lemon curd, apple, white flowers, with some minerality. Very good wine. I guessed it as an Italian Pinot Grigio. Probably won't keep more than a couple of years so drink up.

Young, vibrant, very pure, intense bouquet, ripe citrus; the Albarino is family of the Riesling and I like both grapes. There is a lot to smell and to taste in this wine.

Couldn't believe this was so good. Expected that it would have declined a few years back, but there was nice acidity, good fruit.

3,000 cases in production. A very nice Albarino but price is not competative. Crisp. friendly, drinkable, soft fruit. Good with food or alone.
