Deep to dense pitch black with a narrow purple rim. Deep scents of tobacco, wet earth, mincemeat and Xmas spices lead to damson, prune juice and super-ripe black fruits. A full entry, this is powerful yet sits nicely on the mid-palate. Broad shouldered the mid-palate is all about massive tannins that at 16 years old, are still exerting their force: dry leather hide, leather boots, it is puckering to astringent yet despite the drying nature, is coated in the glycerol …

Still needs a minimum 1-2 hour decant. Just peaking now with dark fruit showing well. Tannins still firm through finish, suggesting still more time to consume remaining bottles. Pairs very well with pork. Incredible value.

Cherry and pomegranate notes. Needs to decante for 2 hours plus. Excellent with pork tenderloin

I wish that I had many more. Great everyday wine for $15.

Slight medicinal nose. Sweet black cherry and cassis. Almost a CnP like character with a very mineral finish. Not totally my speed but you can appreciate the bargain. It could evolve but I'm doubtful.

Much more resolved than when I tasted it almost a year and a half ago (I know I said I'd wait two decades, but the bottle was at hand and anyway I'd forgotten what I'd said and I'm glad I didn't wait, though I would love to try another bottle in 20 years). This just burst with fruit in the nose right out of the bottle (i.e., before it was even poured). The mouth was cleansing (astringent in a good …

Continues to impress. Drank well on day one and then vacuum sealed at room temp for 3 days. Still held up well with a nice steak. Dark fruit with a long finish. Wish I had more than two left.

Great QPR. Drank over two days and held up well both times.

As in last note, great value and very good wine. Decanted and let sit for two hours. Continued to improve over next several hours. Tannins resolving nicely. Only criticism is a bit thin on finish but can't beat it for price.

Showing much better than when last tried. No detailed noted, but I liked it this time around and didn't the last time...

Odd batch, had issues as others did getting a good bottle. Even still, deep and simple, black fruit and spice.

One bottle was flawed, the other nearly flawed... I.e. I think reaching the end of its drinking window. Approach with caution for sure.

A dark and deep colour even at 9 years shows the concentration. Despite the fruitiness the oak and savoury notes take the forefront with toasted coconut but also a bit of liquorice and dill. The oak is mostly balanced out by the red fruit of ripe dark cherry and raspberry. Tannins are full but need just a bit more time to round out, medium high acid. Overall a really tasty wine especially for the price and gets better as you …

powerful nose, spice and cedar. Cherry and more spice, including some pepper, on entry. Still very tannic, suggesting a long life. Will leave other bottles for at least another year or two. Very good wine with bright future.

Overwhelmingly tannic. Not a bad thing, thoughI would prefer to have a case, or at least, say, four bottles, instead of just one of two bottles remaining. I had hoped to try that 2nd bottle along with the best Toro I've ever drunk, the 2004 Quinta de la Quietud, but no matter how long I wait, I fear that this present wine will never come close to that wine. So I'll plan to hold onto it for a couple of …

Surprisingly youthful with strong tannins yet great bright fruit. Cherries and plums. Medium finish. Much enjoyed.

Rich, deeply colored and quite oaky (but not overdone). Very good, but lacks a wow factor for me. It feels young, despite the year on the bottle (2006), so I might let my last two bottles wait for another 6-12 months.

Very interesting bottle. 9 years old, yet impetuously young. Drank over 3 nights, decanted twice and multiple vinturis, yet on the third night the tannins were still dominant and it hasn't reach opened up yet! Great legs on this one. They still line the glass a minute after swirling. A nice fruit flavor but mostly masked by the tannins. Amazing that even on the third night, the tannins on a 9 year old wine will give you cottonmouth! Color is …

Somewhat heavy on the barrique for my taste, but after some airing the dark fruit and compote notes are coming through. Drinks very well, a bit of a charmer, quite impressive up front, but then with medium persistence and complexity. Not bad at all at the price I paid, but I would not lay down twice the amount.

Made only in special years, from a particularly old vineyard; sandy and rocky soils. Nose similar to the regular Rompesedas. This carries a bit more perfume on the nose. A bit lower alcohol than many other Toros; still gets color and fruitiness. Very likeable wine. 90-91+
