Viognier schmecke ich nicht raus. Ansonsten frisch und fruchtig. Animierend.

Cooking wine

don't think it was tainted, but couldn't be completely sure. initially had a nose of preservative (formaldehyde) which faded with air. Much more palatable on day 2, leaving a dry, one-dimensional french table wine without any particular appeal.

Tainted with bandaid brett.

Is this the same wine that everyone else is reviewing? I must have a low bar, because I LOVE this wine. A mini Cote Rotie for a fraction of the price. I bought one bottle today to try it.... Tomorrow I am buying six more.

So the comparison with the 2010 Guigal Côtes du Rhône reveals that 1. I have fallen in love with Syrah, and 2. that this wine here is good but a tad too watery. I guess it's the price you pay for the freshness and the (well done !) citrus and peach notes of the Viognier. This was disappointing. There is spicy oak (or something) over top of the fruit. It suggests a wine that is a bit manipulated; too much of an effort to make something modern-styled rather than just letting the fruit show its stuff. Not what I would have expected from Perrin. And the back label says there is a Jaboulet connection! I am hoping for better things in the future if they continue, but I'll want to taste before buying again.

Leather, currants barnyard straw, medium body, mild tannins and short finish.

Far too much leather for my taste.

I did not enjoy. Too much mineral/soil. Wine needs more time or balance.
