Ghislaine Barthod, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Les Veroilles

Black red, no brick, furry rim. Ripe black cherry, dark spice, intense. Deeply flavoured, darker spectrum berries, blackcurrant spice, forest floor complexity, blueberry lift, powerful but not lacking style or structure. Nice ripe furry tannins. Delicious drinking.

This Les Véroilles is magnificent with great acidity, perfectly ripe deep and dark red fruits, almost no wood and barely noticeable tannins.

Outstanding potential. Quite muted at first but filled out considerably over 1.5 hours. This is a rare case where I might have decanted a burgundy (we didn’t). Grippy dark red fruit, violets, crushed raspberries. Very long but initially monolithic, brooding and intense. Bright acidity balances it out. Ripe integrated tannins with just a hint of stemminess. Enormous aging potential — I would want to try this in 10+ years for full potential.

Beautiful purple-red. Serious nose of dark red fruits. Great acidity against a background of firmer tannins compared to Aux Beaux Bruns. Very young but still drinkable thanks to its abundant fruit, this has the potential to develop beautifully. Try again in 4-6 years.

Matured rustic and funky like a barolo. Musty and lots of soy sauce braided with red dates and wolfberries and sous boi with undergrowth mushroom.

inspired by the recent beserkers thread on '98's I pulled this bottle out to try last night- a touch early it turns out. Right now, this is all about stones with some granite thrown in. Definitely shut down, but the minerals bode well for a very good wine when the fruit is uncovered. Not so smart to assume a Barthod would be open just yet.
