Took a while for this bottle to open up. Was really nice when it did. May be a bit past its best consumption date. Overall, a really nice bottle for our ribeyes.

Beautiful bouquet of oak, blackberries, leather, black pepper and plums. I should have decanted for over one hour. But aerating a few times unlocked these aromas after 30 mins. The tannins are really soft for a Napa cab despite the dark red color. A very enjoyable cab and another good one from Terraces.

Opened at Campiello with Randy and Susan Nipper. As dark and dense as any Terra Valentine offering, very ready to drink.

Opened and left standing and chilling to American cellar temperature for an hour. Tasted from a Silver Oak tasting glass. Initial burst of brighter red berries, especially mulberry, tempered with black plum. These flavors yield to a dense core of cassis, white oak, and light cedar notes. Fine tannins and medium acidity. A well-balanced wine: quite smooth, extremely enjoyable. After some air time, fresh blueberries and blackberry tart aromas emerge, which is delightful.

1996 was the first vintage that Terra Valentine bottled a separate Wurtele Cab. Picked from the highest section of the Wurtele vineyard on Spring Mountain. 100% Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon. Purchased for $30 at auction. This currently sells for $85. Soft cork but it came out in one piece. Very lightly sedimented. Burnt red color. Medium to full bodied. Notes of dried mushrooms, black currants and leather. Solid tannins. Drinking very well but wouldn't hold much longer. 93 points.

This has held up for the 13 years. Lots of floral flavor and earthiness to go with the stuffed veal dinner.

Really nice nose of graphite, creosote, black currant and charred oak as well as a hint of mint. Medium-full bodied with a knock out texture! This isn't at all heavy, but lean and it means business! Palate-coating tannins are of very high quality. The palate is very complex with flavors that echo the aromas. This is fully mature and in a fantastic place right now. What an incredible value this was! Awesome minerality, but the finish is just a little …

Purchased at winery, stored at 55 degrees since purchase. Dark purple-red somewhat cloudy, good legs. Nose of blackberries dark chocolate cigar box with faint cinnamon. Taste of dark fruit ie blackberry cobbler vanilla and a very strong alcohol finish which though not unpleasant was similar to a Central Valley Syrah. Not surprising at 14.9% alcohol. Good mouth tightening tannins over all not dissapointing but I expect more from mountain fruit. 90/100

Dark ruby with mild cloudiness. Dark fruits/berries, cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla, black currant. The tannin and toughness of young Spring Mountain Cab is subdued, there is a sweetness and smoothness to this wine. Good wine, drink now 89-91.

Pleasant surprise! Great balance, fully developed yet maintained balance of fruit with tertiary aromas and flavors. Integrated tannin and long finish...truly enjoyed this 22 year old Spring Mtn Cab. Held a small amount which didn't hold up on day 2. Drink Now. 91-93.

Ten years hasn’t diminished this wine. Sweet cherry, dry finish, nuance of tobacco or smoke. No nose to speak of and not a long finish hence the 92 rating. Very delicious wine and still very much alive.

Nice dark ruby color. Pleasant nose of dark fruits/berries. Very pleasant introduction on the tongue—typical cabernet sauvignon flavors of black currant. Maybe just a tad “sweeter” than normal, but that passes as soon as the wine leaves the tip of the tongue. The thing that I find surprising about this wine is the very tame tannin. My experience is that Spring Mount reds are tannic monsters. Clearly, the tannic content of this wine is apparent. However, that seems to have …

Beautiful slight pepper burn on the nose aroma. Smooth, perfect Napa first taste in the mouth. Dirt road, early morning finish that warms the chest. Dry, medium tannins. Almost a root vegetable finish, different, strong, but very good. Classy

Fully mature bottle, well on to secondary phase, earthy, leather, tobacco. Surprised, my wife wondered if this was old world. Very different impression from last three- like a different wine entirely. The others were all drunk in NY, this one we brought to West Palm on the plane with us a month ago. As all know, it's been cold in the east and sure no cooking during the two hour flight. Anyways, much more evolved than we expected. Will Prob …

Did not like first night on PNP so had one glass and came back. Next night, much improved, open, floral complex grapey nose, smelled like the crush, mouth pleasing Cali cab, lengthy, purple, reasonably viscous, in its mid cycle. Left one more glass for the last night- no special protection besides reinserting cork, and at its best, really strutting. Now I have to decide what we are drinking two nights out?

Drank subsequent to the Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 at a birthday dinner party. Although very good, it lacked the finesse, smoothness, and elegance displayed by its Stag's Leap counterpart. As expected the Yverdon's Spring Mountain roots reflected a big and still very structured wine. Even with a short decant, it was still a bit tight and never seemed to really open completely. A bit shy it did start to show dark fruits and some earthiness underscored with a slight …

Mercifully, this was the last of the four Terra Valentine bottles I bought in an apparent fit of madness three years ago. In addition to my notes on my last bottle of this exactly one year ago to the day, which basically mirror my experience tonight, I discovered something I missed before. The back label (clearly with no shame) reveals that this $75 cuvee was made with not-even-four-year-old vines. As in, this is the second vintage these vines have ever …
