Delicious. Golden in the glass, persistent soft bubbles, creamy mouse, golden apple, citrus, Meyer lemon, crunchy stone fruit, brioche, rocky minerality, hint of almond, bit of yeast, bright acidity, medium body, long lingering finish. Yummy.

I just opened another bottle of the 2005 Gardet Champagne. I stand by the comments I made earlier. But I actually liked this second bottle slightly better than the 2008 Drappier Grande Sendree that I also recently enjoyed. So I think a 93 point score is justified. If you can can find this, buy it and enjoy!

Pretty maize color with fine bubbles. Nose of mango, tangerine, and honey that carries over to the palate. Good acid balance with a touch of sweetness. There is none of the mouth puckering tartness in some of these small grower Champagnes. A terrific starter to some pre-game wine drinking that evening.

2005 certainly isn't the most heralded vintage in Champagne, but this wine shows that nice examples were still possible in the vintage. When the wine hit my tongue, I first got strong minerality and toastiness, which led the way to lemon, and then apple. The apple and mineral flavors carried through to a clean finish. Pronounced apple. Tangy lemons with a fairly long finish. Profusion of persistent bubbles that lasted to the very end, probably the most I have ever seen.

It smells aged: coconut oil, pears in wine, sherry wine, paint and varnish, spiced with vanilla, clove and pepper, perfume, mushrooms, humid cellar, honey, walnuts, almonds, caramel, tarte tatin, confit pears. Dense texture and integrated acidity. Lovely aged champagne, true to its style, oaky and mature. 91pt

Tastes a bit like a sour (lemon) carbonated apple juice, but not with a heavy amount of bubbles. A little too airy for my taste, almost question how much, if any, sugar is here, as crisp is certainly a term that describes it adequately. Certainly wouldn't run away from having but there are significantly better options at the price point.

bubbles a little coarse... very yeasty. Critus tarts, followed by creamy, yeasty lees... and then return to citrus, with pleasant little bit of pith.
