Peppery finish, mineral overtones. Excellent wine, aged like a fine French white Bordeaux. Not past its prime. Wonderful!

This gal has plenty of life left in her. I haven't enjoyed a Chardonnay this much in some time. Nose is fresh pear, melon and white nectarine. Palate is crisp spiced pear and golden apple with just the slightest amount of oak and a hint of bay. 3 days corked on the fridge develops a little greenness, but still on point. Impressed. Glad I kept it.

Slightly past peak. Citrus aromas, apple and grapefruit on the palate initially. Slightly metallic finish. This wine was a 90 this past summer.

At the Cakebread dinner in Oceannaire, served with the lobster salad. Light yellow in color. I found the nose nondescript. The palate was citrus, green apple and grass. Finish was moderate.

Citrus (grapefruit) and green apple on the nose and palate. Oak, if any, is minimal, and this is bright and crisp, rather than buttery. A nice summer wine.

I don't normally like white wine but this wine is spectacular. Light but bold yellow color. Great nose of fruit. Fruit forward apple and green grass. Oak but not over bearing. Low acid, middle alcohol. Delicious. Finishes as you would expect. Understand now why Cakebread is known for their whites.

Neither oaky nor buttery, it tastes more like a sauvignon blanc. Has notes of honey dew and mandarin. Crisp and dry.

Floral and earthy on nose, citrus and melon on palate. Smooth not buttery. Great with scallops with chili lime butter on corn risotto.

Straw colored, medium-full bodied this has aromas of green and golden apple, pear and citrus with hints of mineral. Complex and crisp with nice depth and balance, the long finish highlights notes of pear with hints of lemon, peach, vanilla, and spicy oak.

Lighter yellow and opens with a saline citrus nose. Surprisingly firm citrus grapefruit, lemon, lime flavors. Lighter style. Medium length.

Still very much a higher end Napa Chard. Lotsa rounded Chardonnay fruit balanced with some oak and acid. Curiously, the fruit lasted through the meal while the acid seemed to fade. Maybe a function of the Fig and Port Wine sauce on the pork roast I fixed? In any event, it was still a quite youthful 11 year old.

Green apple, pear and citrus. Apple, citrus and melon flavors with a yeasty, somewhat spicy finish. Full bodied.

In a flight of three, more like the Baileyana than the Grgich, but creamier, and what struck me at the time as a tad more dilute but on retrospect, think might have just been tightness. Would have shown better the next day.

This was really good, but for this kind of money you expect more to be frank, all the classic Cali elements (ie: over the top), but really not worth $60 - Gold, full bodied with a nose of peach, apple, butterscotch, caramel, popcorn and vanilla, good structure, mostly balanced but a bit 'hot', smooth on the palate with good length, good, but not great (89 Points).

Nice medium light day bright gold color. Nose of medium light tropical notes including pineapple and mango. Some unique butter aromas as well coupled with light slate. Palate is medium bodied with more tropical fruit, wet rock and light citrus notes as well. Quite nice. Nothing too extraordinary but I would imagine enjoyable according to just about anyone.

Our first '06, enjoyed last night over dinner at Josh's on the Square in Hickory NC with wine friends Danny and Pat Bolick. This is really good and I highly recommend this wine although I hear the reserve is even a big cut above this. Danny brought this so I have no idea what the price point is - if it is around $ 30 - 35 then this is a great QPR wine, above that probably less so. We …

Gourgeous golden color. Was initially concerned that it would be too "syrupy" like come Chards can be when the are "past their prime". Was not the case here at all. If you have, drink with confidence. We had with Red Snapper and polenta and was a wonderful compliment. Good structure and clean tatse with a hint of oak. This is the embodiment of a "buttery" Chardonnay. Other comments are a a bit harsh b/c of what is expected from Cakebread. …

This bottle of the Cakebread '06 Chardonnay seemed much more vibrant and flavorful than previous bottles. Maybe the two bottles of Champagne we drank previous helped to bring out more flavor in this one ;-)

Light straw color; brilliant and clear; nose of dried mango, canteloupe, and loads of minerality; flavors of yellow and green apples, lemon, and citrus fruits; medium acidity, with subtle oaky notes; decent, drawn out finish; paired nicely with an herb salad; slightly pricey, but we would most definitely purchace again.

On the lighter side - and perhaps lacking concentration on the palate - this is made in a crisp, lightly oaked style that lets its white flower, green apple and cream flavors show brightly. This improves, showing a richer texture and more developed flavor, with some air time.

Drank immediately after opening which is not a good idea. Straw yellow, perfumed oaky nose. First impression was citrus, medium weight, oak and vanillin appear over time as it warmed up and evolved.
