Barraco, Catarratto, Sicilia

Lemon and yellow tropical fruit with rusty minerality, bicycle oil, flowers, black pepper and smoke. Compared to my last note, 1.5 years ago, the skin-contact felt more appearant this time around and it felt less green and slightly more developed.

Mineral, yellow fruit and good acidity. Like salty peaches macerated in lemon juice.

Hardly felt skin-macerated at all, compared to the Grillo. Citrus, green note, hint of oil and bicycle store. Had higher expectations due to the aforementioned Grillo, but I have more bottles which might very well improve with time.

Sweet orange blossom, quite rich but feels light, lovely balance, delicious

Popped and poured. This is very dark honey in color, looking as if there's significant skin contact here. For a few hours the aromas appear to be oxidative and not entirely pleasant, showing some odd old wood funk and slight chemical astringency. Initially the palate is pretty similar, showing some tartness and old apple core notes. Too oxidative for me. That said, give this wine a few hours and it really comes around. Deep amber. Light aromas of nuts and burned sugar. Dry and acidic on the palate with some heft, flavors of dried fruit. Light tannins emerge towards the back in a medium finish.

P&P. Drank with shrimp and mushroom risotto. Floral notes give way to a slight hint of fino in the nose with a dose of nutmeg and spice. Slight bitter almond quality in the mouth quickly gives way to clean citrus and minerals. Light to medium bodied . Must be all stainless. Held up well on day two showing more mineral and citrus. Nice wine for the money.

dry citrus peels and hint of chinchona bark

Amber gold color. Cloves, spices on the nose. Mouthfeel is smooth, full, but not luxurious. Interesting bitter tastes, medium finish. Ei liked.
