Well, if my inventory is correct, this is the last of 18 bottles and reinforces how solid CVR is as a great daily drinker and QPR. Following 50 minutes slow ox there’s cigar, leather, and a faint scent of old barrel on the nose. Soft tannins are well resolved and slightly dominated by the fruit, providing a bit of chalk that’s reminiscent of a well aged Bordeaux. While a very enjoyable and an incredible wine for a Tuesday, a hint …

Getting my notes from me half of the bottle, I decanted about 2.5 hours ago. Classic CVR nose shows blue and black fruits, though still rather restrained. This shows vibrant, youthful blue and black fruits across the palate, and needs considerably more time to fully open and hit its stride. Give it a good swirl in your mouth and the fruit begins coming to life, with tannins that are equally youthful but show a great future while leaving a dusty, …

Dark red. Dark berries. Fruity on the palate. Pepper, eucalyptus, very fresh. Very persistent tannins. Really nice.

A little flamboyant, rush of dark fruits, plum, blackberry, amazingly fresh and youthful for 13 years old, but too much oaky vanilla and not enough structure to rate higher.

The first red wine of the night at a dinner with my wine group and everyone loved it. Still very young, so very fruit forward, but it also has a nice mix of spice on the palate.

Opened it at wine event at Portland Wine Storage. I was very well received by everyone who tasted it. It is a great Bordeaux blend. The tannins were mild, not overly fruity (just right) and all in all a well balanced wine. This is a good time to drink it, but no rush. It will still hold up for several years.

A combination of blackberry and black cherry on the palate, with a lift of acidity and mild+ tannins on a short/medium finish. Not much depth, complexity or backbone. Good, but underwhelming.

The CVR is a consistently good wine from Quilceda Creek. It has bright fruits and enough tannin, acid, and alcohol to tie it together quite nicely. Just enough oak to soften and add a layer of flavor and complexity while being an outstanding QPR wine.

Pnp after Rose’s Farm to Table dinner in Graham. very similar to my last testing, and this has a very Bordeaux like nose. Perfectly balanced across the palate; sweet tannins have the slightest grit against mature dark fruit. Concur that this’d be consumed by ‘26 to remain within its ideal window. What a treat!

PnP. An hour after opening this is truly remarkable at this price point. Warm coffee grinds and sweet dark fruit on the nose, this otherwise comes across as a nicely-maturing 2nd growth. Well-balanced, there's still runway to improve further but its great where today. Old World elegance you find in few CaliCabs for a fraction of the price. Can never buy enough of this. Will (try to) wait a year before popping the next bottle of this vintage.

Solid as always. Higher alcohol and wood than other bottles. Might need a decant as I PnP’d. Started off great with dark cherries and depth, but became astringent over time.

Quilceda Creek's 2021 CVR is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged for 20 months in French oak barriques (50% new). Opaque crimson in color, it offers an intense aromatic array of black and blue bramble fruits that are backed up with scents of licorice, violets, bittersweet chocolate, pipe tobacco, graphite and baking spices. Full-bodied, medium in acidity and somehow hiding its lofty 15.2% alcohol, it delivers flavors in line with …

Third time drinking this over a year. Definitely better than the last time I had it 6 months ago. Super fun nose of red fruit, oak and honey. Palate is tons of cherries, the oak comes thru a bit. Palate isn’t as full as the last time I had it. But the wine still has lots of grippy tannins left. Right in its drinking window imo.

At 7yrs, this wine is still powerful and vibrant. Blueberry, violet and a dusty sage brush nose. Rich texture but definitely not heavy. After several hours, it softens and blends into a beautiful Bordeaux style but with the lightest mocca finish. 10yrs will likely be it's sweet spot, and window of 20 before it starts showing any age.

This guy is definitely more tannic than many other CVR wines over the years. Had quite a few that you could PnP if they were a few years laying down in the cellar but not this guy. He needs about an hour still to open up and soften a bit still. After that you get what you paid for, an amazing 5 Star QPR Cab sauvignon from WA State (and QC)!

Very good and open for business. Wet Earth, blackberries, pine needless, and roasted nuts in the nose. Palate is dark bitter chocolate, black fruits, cedar, pine tar, and marzipan. Body is a bit thin, the acidity is still there. Tannins resolved, and didn’t require the typical 6 hour decant that many Quiceda Creek wines command. One of my favorite bottles I’ve had from this winery. Great with grilled NY Strips, au poivre sauce, and mustardy fingerling potato salad with dill. …

Coravin’d a glass 3 days ago and pulled the cork an hour ago. Nose shows old barrel and hint of fig but is otherwise muted. There’s a lot more to this than when first sampled, and while it hits the palate fairly smooth, the fruit remains restrained. Will wait a year before tapping the next bottle.

Fortunate to have “rediscovered” 3 bottles of this when conducting inventory over the Holidays. Not decanted. 75 mins after the pulling the cork there’s berries and tree-sap on the nose; medium-light weight across the palate, the flavors balance more towards red fruit but there’s still plenty of structure. Hints of tobacco and leather while old barrel holds it all together with tannins that still allow for a solid 10-15 sec finish. This could pair w a variety of foods, from …

Decanted for 90 minutes. I still find this wine to be one of the best QPRs on the market. I would put up against most $100 domestic Cabernets. The wine is still very young, so I’m glad to have several more bottles. I will hold for a year before trying the next bottle.

89% CS / 5% Merlot / 4% PV / 2% CF 100% New French oak, 20 months Classic bright blue and black CVR notes as this splashes into the decanter. After 40 minutes this is surprisingly approachable; yes, there are plenty of tannins, but they’re sufficiently resolved that the dark fruit still comes through.
