Great with some sweets after Christmas dinner. A treat. Lychee, tropical fruit, honey, oily. Memorable bottle for me and favorite of most at dinner.

First of three. Who can believe it!! Sweet. Apricot, honey, etc. etc. great nose and mouth, but (to split hairs) the length is where can seem a bit cloying.

Opened by Anwar. This was from a bottle that was opened 2 years ago and kept in the fridge. Lacking in acidity. Nice fruit but did not have the depth I would expect from a SQN dessert wine. 85 points.

Death by Lobster (Four Seasons Hotel, Atlanta) : Rich, sweet and intense, with nice freshness and acidity, not a pillar of complexity, but very enjoyable.

non blind as the end to the champagne brunch. wonderful expression. sweet but not sappy or overboard. lovely white and yellow fruits - peaches and apricots. wonderful structure at this point. terrific palate feel and coating without being coy. finish smooth and cashmere like with lingering.

18 bottles of Sine Qua Non (Copenhagen, Denmark) : My favorite of the five sweet SQNs we had at the tasting. Clear Gewurztraminer nose, without being too "perfumy". Very nice acidity added a much welcomed element of freshness. A very elegant desert wine (and excellent with the Foie Gras)

A good drink, if not the astounding experience that I was hoping for. Still seems quite primary (GOBS of orange and white tropical fruit - mangoes, lychees, etc.) and the pieces don't quite meld together yet. I like this wine - a LOT - but it still tastes young, and could use some time. Given that I've had it for 4 years so far, I'd say that "some time" is at least another 4 years. Try next in 2013?

Great American Syrah Smackdown (Chris Hughes' place - Chicago, IL) : Nose has sweet, lychee fruit, peaches and spice. Palate rich and dense. Oozing with delicious peach fruit. Spice and incense notes add interest. Great balance and length. Fantastic.

Great American Syrah Smackdown (My House) : One of the better SQN dessert wines I've had (though I'm always a sucker for a sweet Gewurtz). Nice richness, very sweet, but also some good spicy character - more than just sweet.
