The 2nd vintage of a Sangiovese from the Golan Heights Winery, rightly released under the "Gamla" instead of the top "Yarden" label. While made of Sangiovese, this wine resembles more an "internationalized" Merlot. High alcohol (14.5%), with sweet/coffee/tobacco/vanilla flavors on the finish. A pleasant wine to sip, but one that lacks character, in particular when compared to the "real thing" from Tuscany. At the moment, the wine tastes immediately after opening like many other New World wines after 2 hours …
