Kumeu River, Village Pinot Noir, Kumeu

Fresh crunchy redcurrant with a hint of spritz. Slightly earthy. This is not at all concentrated, but quite enjoyable.

Simple. clean, fresh pinot. Uncomplicated. Decent enough and acts as a good value replacement for a Bourgogne level rouge.

Bottle popped on opening.

Very pale and light-bodied - a rather sprightly raspberry colour. An earthy nose, with light red fruits, especially wild strawberries. Zippy red fruit juice - strawberry and raspberry. There's a spritzy feel. A fruity yet earthy finish with a little black pepper. Nice.

Village ‘Hand Harvested’ label. Bought The Wine Society UK £9.95 Bargain. Not the most elegant Pinot out of New Zealand but for sheer simple quality Quaffing, an utter bargain. Best had lightly chilled if for a summer’s day lunch. (Yes, there’s a hint of Gamay about it.) Very ripe fruit, crunchy tannins, finishes sappy Dry, not at all complex but wonderfully splendidly drinkable. Light body. Drink up before the meagre acid that’s there fades completely, I’m guessing KR doesn’t intend …

Very light bodied - more caramel than red in some lights, other times a little more pinkish-raspberry shows. Not a great deal on the nose - light red fruits - a bit like passing a strawberry plant; a very slight earthy note, but nothing too pronounced. Dry mixed red fruits - summer fruit pudding, all red fruits. Intensely dry finish - with some earthy notes showing, perhaps.

A light well structured pinot. Lovely fruit balanced with a touch of cherry wood and typical forest floor. Good length.
