Less elegant than previous vintages and a tad heavy-handed, with notes of black raspberry, orange peel, and oak leading the way. Savory notes weave in, with mixed herbs and a hint of smoke ushering in the medium finish. A skosh of heat throughout as well. Still, this was well-made and tasty and continues to be one of the better Reservas on the market.

Klassieke Rioja in moderne uitvoering. Rijpe kersen, cederhout, tabak en een hint van balsamico vormen een gelaagd en uitnodigend bouquet. In de mond verfijnd en goed in balans: frisse zuren, rijpe tannines en een strakke structuur. De houtopvoeding is merkbaar maar mooi geïntegreerd. Afdronk is lang en kruidig. Toegankelijk nu, maar zal met een paar jaar flesrust nog winnen aan diepgang.

Tempranillo with a bit of Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. 24 months in American oak and the nose is classic American oaked Rioja with dill, vanilla and touch of cedar spice with dark fruit in the background. It also dominates the palate at first but the fruit eventually comes out with air, especially the red fruit with medium acidity, red licorice. Touch of egg nog. It’s medium-bodied. Probably a bit too warm, so you feel the warmth of the 14.5% alcohol …

Supper with the wine ark boys (Lunas, Petersham) : Backed red berry fruit with vanilla and coconut from the oak, sweet spice, touch of alcohol derived peppery spice. And this is reflected on the palate, alcohol rather intrudes a little too much for me, red hued fruits, touch of textured burr is quite silky. Hmm.

Medium ruby, shiny, very good colour. nose: elegant - blueberries, blackberries, black plums. plus chocolate and coffee. velvety. taste: high acidity, beautiful tannins - soft, ripe. dark fruits - black plums, blueberries, blackberries plus some strawberries from the pan. Very long finish with plums in chcolcolate notes, dark chocolate and some cinnamon spice. Excelletn with great potential.

Well this is also showing fantastic today. Must indeed be a fruit day! Tempranillo nose but not to roasty toasty, concentrated but elegant fruit, a touch of savory character to it. 100% American oak making it silky and approachable with some serious dark fruit... I am being told.

Oak at the forefront. Fruit coming through towards the end, very smooth. Fantastic wine

From a magnum. Tasted along with the 2018 (0.75 l) the 2019 is lighter and more elegant, with less tannins and also less concentration. I prefer the 2018.
