Nose of cherry, tobacco, earth, slight vanilla. Very rich mouth. Long finish with loads of sweet cherry fruit and mature oak tannins. Not my favorite style, but hits the spot and delivers well when looking for this type of wine. Exceeds my expectations and should go well with rich garlicy foods.

It started off very port like, but with time in the glass, that dissipated. Dark red fruit was complimented by lovely spice notes and roasted prunes.

This wine was mind-blowing. I bought two cases 10 years ago for short money from a distributor looking to clear inventory … under $20/bottle. Most I drank quickly with Tuesday burgers or Thursday pizza, or brought as a host gift. I found a stray bottle in the cellar last night and gave it a shot with Provençal beef stew. This wine was at an absolute peak, with an explosive bouquet of Asian spices, lavender, and cedar; ripe plums and tarry …

Dark fruit is complemented by Mediterranean spice, wild herbs and unsmoked tobacco. Good depth and texture. Nice nose as well. This wine is showing nicely with still some upside left. This wine exceeded my expectations. Good juice.

At opening, a little rough texture, dark berries (89p). Decanting and will wait two hours. Compared to the PSI which we drank in parallel, the Legon still had more roughness. It is good but needs a lot of time to get balance.

Nice smell of dark berries and raw meat. A dry touch immediately after opening. 89p.Will wait to see how it develops during the evening. Nice bold body. Excellent day 2, should have decanted day one. 91p

Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour plus. Not overly complex, but a pleasant nose of dark fruits, black cherry, plum and currants, with a healthy dose graphite infused tobacco. The palate is dark and medium plus bodied, tart black currants, plum and black cherry, coarse tobacco and somewhat grainy tannins. In a good place, still no rush. Solid.

Purple with garnet to the edges. Looks fully extracted. Spice and dark fruits with some cherry and sweet tobacco to the nose Medium expressive. Body is dark fruits with medium tannins. Still in balance but tannins closed the finish. This was my last bottle and I think another 5 years could have been interesting once the tannins fully resolved.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (T&L's) : Double blind. High-toned, almost VA but not quite. There's an aroma that I cannot place but yet seems very familiar, complemented by floral and red berry notes. Red fruit, raisin and dark fruit flavors, becoming more port-like as it sits. Ripe and fat, lacking acidity. I had no idea what this was.

An hour decant. This wine is starting to soften up. Good fruit and then a dry, earthy finish.

Consumed over two days. Waited a bit too long for this, dominated by stewed red and blue fruit up front, fades through the mid-palate, back-end is dominated by stewed fruit, black licorice, and rusty earth. Appears to be past it's prime, still some goodness here but doesn't measure up to previous experiences..

Note: I use a rating scale on which 85 represents a very good wine. A bit from memory -- needed some time to open up, but once it did, very nice drinking. Maybe a 30min decant.

Beautiful garnet color at the core, fading to a slight orange at the rim. Red fruits, leather and spice. Faint hint of alcohol. Restrained yet enticing. Medium body, mouth filling, lengthy and very pleasant finish. Nice balance. Very refined and high-class. Wonderful wine, every bottle has been good for 3yrs+

Pale hints of orange when poured, yet dark when it pooled in the glass. Aromas of olive tapenade, gravel and dark cherry skins. Slightly gritty with mineral flavor characteristic. Easy upfront with a rustic tannic finish. Plum flavor, but most of the wine’s charm comes from it’s various layers of complexity. Slightly austere and harsh, yet still a very nice wine to enjoy.

Fantastic effort, drinking perfectly right now. Opened up 3 hours in advance, the nose was a dense potpourri of dark fruits, spice box, liquorice accompanied by earthy undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, sweet attack but with a lot of elegance on the palate, perfectly balancing fruit, acidity and spice, leading up to a lingering 15 seconds plus finish. Marvelous! Sadly, I am down to my last bottle now...

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, stewed dark fruit - plum & cassis, black licorice, and dark flowers. Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet blue and black fruit attack, spice driven mid-palate lift, just enough acid and earthiness to balance the sweet fruit attack, seems to be in it's sweet spot right now - everything is in balance and integrated. Finish: Medium-plus length, dominated by dark fruit, spice and earthiness. Appears more new world this time …

Opened two - 1st one corked - tried an experiment by adding plastic cling wrap. Next day it removed most maybe all of the taint. Second bottle was fine. Dark fruit nose. Tight at first but opening up into a well balanced dark, complex palate with some nice spice, tannin and acidity

Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 4 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, wild game - venison, dark fruit - black berry, anise, and black dirt. Palate: Medium-full bodied, ripe plum and menthol attack, enough acidity to balance this out, back-end dominated by spice and dark earthy flavors carries thru a medium length finish. Comes across as very Old World - dominated by gaminess and earthy characteristics, I like it - drinking well right now.

Pretty disappointed in this wine, dark fruit, tar, spices with a weak body and even weaker finish. 84 is as high as i can go because i cannot call this an above average wine

Spanish Wines session (My Little Spanish Place) : Dark ruby with purple hue. A fragrance nose with dark fruits, spice and oak. Powerful palate with good structure. Blackcurrant and spice shown in a medium+ bodied frame. Medium finish with a grippy tannins. It is very different compare to the Bodegas Emilio Moro tasted in the same flight, more robust and firm.

This is an amazingly powerful wine. Usually this would mean oddles of tannins which try to bash you into shape. But in this case it springs on you with a huge punt of red cherries which almost stings your tongue. The tannins don't taste the same as the usual French or Italian and it has a surprising amount of licorice to it. You can detect a bit of milky hints when you first start it but in all quite a …

Great bold wine which was much more refined than I expected it to be for the age. Very much enjoyed.
