Very nice, black tea, mineral, red fruit, smooth and soft but with sufficient grip and tension. PnP, flower day, Zalto Burgundy. At first some barn aromatics, but after 15min those cleared.

Old fruit, rich, warm, glossy, grand cru texture. Not sure this wine ever had a really good point - fruit too green until it got old - but now delicious without being grand cru interesting

Big warm fruit, juicy, nice acidity, light tannins. Has the glossy texture one expects of a Grand Cru but not the complexity. First really nice tasting of this wine after many green years

Pale garnet and translucent. Took about ½ hour to open but worth the wait. Mid to dark red fruit with earthy complexity. Balanced and long. I do not think it is getting any better but still years left.

Initially slow to emerge from its shell, but give it time and food .. and it unfurls gently into a dark-toned dense black-fruited gem. How can a 23yo wine from a so-so burg vintage be this tightly coiled? Sadly the last of the case; otherwise I'd have left in some time before broaching another.

Nick A's 64 Goodge Street Burgundy Dinner (64 Goodge Street, London) : Dark fruits and a real aniseedy depth here. Later pomegranate jelly sweetness / sourness. Palate is very tannic on pouring which only partly eases in the glass. Some pea shoots and hints of cherry cola emerge in time. Definitely one for the future here.

Nick's Burgundy evening at 64 Goodge Street : Dark but bright red, no bricking I could see. A nose to spend time with, savoury and herbal. This rusticity continues to the palate where it is joined by a little barnyard and some chewiness, and sweet dark hedgerow fruits, something like sage, and gentle tannins. Nick's 64 Goodge Street (Mainly) Burg Dinner (64 Goodge St) : This is quite aromatic, with dark fruit, herbal notes. Soil, game. Quite complex if a but dusty. Medium bodied, leanish, dusty dark fruit, spice, fine but still quite firm tannins, good length finish.

PNP from magnum but over 4 hour period. This was pretty good out of the bottle and with an hour of air was really showing well. Dark fruits, secondaries, and still plenty of structure to the wine for the long haul. Enjoyable now but from magnum may not yet be at it's peak. A-?

During a burg dinner. Very rustic and earthy, representative of the old style Grivot. I don't see any Burgundian elegance in this wine. If I want to drink a wine like this I have St.Estephe in my cellar.

From magnum. This takes 4 hours in the decanter (not 3, as it was still closed at 3) and then opens into a very enjoyable wine. Not showing a lot of secondaries yet, but with the right amount of air the red fruits show well, the wine is balanced with a nice long finish. Would probably give it a few more years as should improve but with 4 hours it is pretty good right now. A-

Perfect cork, great fresh color. Took a while to unfold - 4+ hours. But once it hit its stride, it was a beautiful wine, esp considering the vintage. Very complete offering: good complexity on the nose, long and satisfying mouth, with fruit and sweet tanins. Not particularly dense ot heavy. Very good.

Tasted at the Sampler. Really complex and elegant nose, which is starting to show signs of maturity. On the palate, however, it feels like it needs several more years to show its full potential. A massive wine with big tannins. I liked this wine a lot and would love to try it with food.

We had this at a tasting and it was very closed in the beginning. After about an hour of swirling in the glass it improved somewhat, althogh still giving only a hint of its potential. Mouthfeel was elegant and intensive with a long aftertaste and a good balance. This needs at least 5 more years in the cellar and should be forgotten until then.

Somewhat aged on the nose with aromas of sour-cherry, perfume, hazelnut, gooseberry and a nice earthy as well as intensely mineral character. Rather closed at first but opened up fairly. Medium bodied with refreshing acidity and quite velvety tannins. Sour cherry, sous bois and some vegetal action as well. Flinty and stony nuances. Good length and balance. Great wine, I have drunk this wine on several occasions and it is beginning to get there, 2 years ago the when was completely dead for 2 hours and now the nose started to develop after 30 minutes with creamy cherries , black fruit, changing to more secondary flavours like leather and some light tabaco. Flavours of blackfruit, nice tannins and medium plus length.

Very dark colour. After a 1.5 hour decant: fresh nose, lovely cherries, some cardboard. Later on nose changed to more black fruit, earthy and herbal tones. Taste with black fruit, licorice and leather. Excellent length. You get the feeling that this wine is not yet showing all the fruit it has inside, probably have to wait a few more years for opening next bottles.

I think this wine is just starting to be ready to drink. Lovely classic Burgundy nose with hint of earth, hint of oak, lovely spice. Lots of acidity in the mouth, but the fruit is starting to come through. This is no fruit bomb but rather a more classic Burgundy style. Moderate tannins, still a bit tight but not bitter.
