Not overly complex, but enjoyable now

Lighter in body than many. Quite typical overall, particularly given its age. It seemed to be fully resolved and at peak. Technically excellent, but it lacked wow factors. Drink now.

From 0,375. Bottled in 2001. Medium ruby color. Aromas of dark cherry, dried cherry, plums, prunes, leather, tobacco. Taste of sweet cherry, raisins, dark chocolate. Short finish.

Ruby, little to no color drop. Light Sandalwood / spice. Lush, plum, fine tannins. Youthful

I feel it's past it's prime. Over powered with wood.

Sandeman MG Vertical (PP81) : From MG bottle. Dark plum fruit with a lot of black pepper. Very primary and young. Overall, a lovely young VP.

Tasting of Sandeman Ports at Quinta do Seixo (Quinta do Seixo, Douro Valley, Portugal) : Decent, but that's about it. The nose was darkly attractive, with black cherry and blackcurrant aromas with a sweet, almost liquored-edge to them, and them some violets alongside dashes of peppery spice dark and a bit of earthiness. The palate was still marked with a good bit of firm, vhewy tannins that shaped a rather primary mouthful of strawberries shading into darker black cherry and …

Alc. 20 %. Sucre 110 g/l. Acidité 3,98 g/l (en équivalence tartrique). pH 3,6. 25,75 $ au Québec. (https://vinquebec.com/node/15261)

Really nice and smooth, perhaps a bit syrupy. Paired well with a variety of cheeses, particularly a Murray’s Reserve Cornelia. Then we finished the bottle over dessert, and it went nicely with, of all things, amaretto cheese cake. The two of us did the whole bottle Christmas Eve. Very nice!

The age comes through on the nose with a touch of leaves/mushroom. in the mouth, things are integrated to an overall impression of cinnamon bark and raisin.

Deep garnet in color. Nose of ripe cherries, hints of chocolate and leather. Tastes of cherries, prunes, espresso, and dark chocolate. Lovely balance, ripe fruit and a wonderful richness. Drink now and over the next 10 years.

Nose is raisin with some spice, maybe thyme. Flavour is spicy at first with a raisin/prune finish. Once it opens up, there's a hint of chocolate.

Nice development on the nose which still has a good core of fruit also; really lovely developed character, savoury edge. Very approachable now.
