Fruity tannic fun and at 10 years young still keeping it together. Interesting but not sure I would do this experiment again. Wtw? No. A bit heavy and plodding, a little too juicy and nothing interesting on the finish.

90/91. 14%. Strong blackberries, black olives, mint and fruits of the forest aromas. Its medium bodied black and brown and red fruits palate has a solid nicely oaked middle. Ends mediumish, fresh and with some food friendly tannin. Drink now with food or lay down 2-5 years. Needs 4-5 hrs aeration.

This wine punches above its class in so many ways. It is juicy and delicious with balance and length after a few years in the bottle and ages well also. Flavors of blackberry over abundant but well-integrated tannins. It is drinking particularly well now in 2024, but it yield a few more years in the bottle before declining (Dec 2024).

Dark ruby/purple right to the rim. Fragrant with dark fruit and cedar spice. Flavours of dark berries, plum, oak spice and savoury herbs (hint of green character maybe, too). Dense but smooth tannins, well structured with fairly high acidity. In some ways, this was reminiscent of the South Okanagan due to its fruit forward nature with high acidity. I’m intrigued. 88-89+ (because so think this will improve with time).

Powerful, tannic, acidic varietal wine. Definitely young, I'm eager to find some older vintages. Very linear experience of red cherries, underripe plums, giving way to intense dark chocolate, a bit of salt. Very strong, sharp, grippy tannins, and an acidic bite. It's interesting. Not getting the finesse or layering you might see from Bordeaux or Napa, but still extremely interesting and a wine I'm eager to try when time has rounded off the tannins and softened the acidity. Also comes …

Dark purple/black color. Extremely fruit forward (and less herbal than the prior vintage) on the nose and palate. Bright dark plum and berry aromas with hints of graphite and baking spices. Juicy plum and black raspberry and additional notes of beef jerky and crunchy minerals. Powerful and full bodied but well balanced. Long finish. Agreed no well but needs additional bottle age to continue to soften. Part of our Garzon Tannat Reserva vertical tasting.

C: Dark as Ink. Red-Blue on the rim. N: Bitter, burned P: Cherries some oak, Prominent but smooth tannins, nice sweet experience and balanced acid. Sum: Reminds me of some Italian cherry-tasting wines, but here with more tannins. It is not over the hill yet. 5 bottles left. Would match it with some red meat and creamy sauce.

My first ever Tannat, so I don't have a lot to go on with this varietal. Lot of fun. Well structured and balanced, fruity, some tannin and oak, more tannin that fruit on the finish. Finish starts with a bang buts fades quickly. Really enjoyable overall. Definitely will seek out another bottle for this price.

Beautiful and really dark ruby colour with clearing at the rim. On the nose, I get plenty of dark chocolate with bay leaf, cloves, and a little bit of fennel. Fruit-wise, I get blueberry and blackberry. There is a nice smell of dry fire wood, too, and violets. Some very very distant musk, too, but the bouquet appears clean and new-worldly. Quite pretty in my opinion. Oh the palate, there is a lot of tannin that doesn’t leave the mouth …

Tät mörkröd färg. Stor frukt på nosen. Dryper av bäbisfett, swullig frukt och har lite lagom tanniner kvar för god njutning idag. Jag är helt nöjd! Det här är bättre än mycket från Madiran. Mums! Kan säkerligen bli något med 10 års lagring.

I thought this was a flabby mess. Some other TNs mention medium/medium plus acidity which I did not pick up at all, hence the experience. Tannins definitely not as punchy as some other tannats I've tried, but that might be this wine's only saving grace. Fairly bitter, lacking flavor or structure. Short finish. Yeah, not a fan.

Rich black fruit and raspberry palate, along with chocolate and black licorice. This was my first time having an Uruguayan Tannat, and I was expecting something more aggressively tannic and bold, but this was not as interesting as I would have liked. It still tasted good – like something in the Bordeaux blend family, perhaps – but it wasn’t the unique wine I was looking for.

Notes of black cherry and licorice. Medium body and a little watery on the end. Acidity is medium-plus with a slight sharpness. Tannins are medium/medium-plus. Overall, this is a very simple, watery tannat.

Really liked this. The nose was very pretty and reminded me of a Right bank Bordeaux, with the palate more of a Left bank and very cab-like structure. Fairly persistent tannin, which might mellow with age, and an interesting oleaginous character. Raspberries, red fruits, licorice. Things started to fall apart on the finish with some bitterness, but this was generally forgiven as the pairing worked so well with steak.

Lots of dark fruits, plums, blackcurrant, rum pot, some alcohol sweetness, lots of licorice, some cocoa and hints of coffee. Surprisingly, not very tannic for a young Tannat, but still grippy. Matching acidity. Medium body. Some unbalanced alcohol and bitter flavors on the finish. Pair with red meat. Drink now or keep for a few years. - 88 points

Tasted after a two hour decant. Dark, opaque ruby in colour with aromas of black fruit, black liquorice & somewhat earthy. On the palate, full bodied, black fruit, blackberry/cassis, chocolate, well integrated oak, earthy, medium acidity, high soft tannins with a long finish to black pepper & liquorice. This wine is very soft & mellow, would have been interesting to taste it younger.

The wine is clear and has a deep ruby color. The nose is clean with medium intensity aromas of strawberry, blackcurrant and a little bit of chocolate from oak. On the palate the wine is dry with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, and medium body. There are medium intensity flavors of red cherry, blackcurrant, and strawberry. The oak is absent on the palate. The wine has a medium finish. The quality is good.

One of the finest Tannat producers, this Reserva is quite densely perfumed and well structured. Aged for 10 months in FR oak. Deep ruby opaque colour. Medium intensity dense aroma of cassis, leather, blackberries, liquorice, violets. Full body, soft and fragrant entry with touch of pleasant bitterness, medium dense texture, balanced black fruit and spice flavours, concludes with powdery structured tannins.

Tasted blind on first night, then revisited on following night (at which time I knew the wine's identity). I had thought last night that this may have been Syrah, and I even called out Brosseau Vineyard, as I find that plot here in California to exhibit some similar tasting markers. Blue fruit, iron, intensity. I was wrong, and with no experience in drinking Tannat, I got to learn something. Retasting tonight, this is a mouth filling wine of licorice, dark …

Dark ruby colour with a purple rim. Fruit driven. Forrest berries (dark fruit, mostly dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry). Cedar, tobacco and smoke. Has matured nicely since I last tried it. Concentrated and full bodied. Perfect with BBQ. Some dry tannins in the finish but they have become silkier. The bitterness has disappeared. Amazing value. Drinks very well now but can be cellared for 4-5 more years.

Not as long as the 2015. In its last sip it firmed up to a 90. Has spicy aromas of blackberries, cherries, coffee, chalk and liquourice. Its firm slightly herby medium bodied broad shouldered mocha infused black fruits palate has very good depth and acidity. Ends only mediumish a bit sour and astringent. 14.5%. This needs 5 years lay down. Needs 4-5 hours aeration.

Medium+ intensity aromatics are quite stony mineral driven, layered atop red and black fruits, black currant, and herbs, accented with some peppery spice aromas. The full-ish bodied palate is ripe with more dark berry, herbal, spice, and subtle wood flavours. Nicely textured with some some stony characters on the mid-palate adding nuance.
