Very smooth with nice red fruit. Nuanced. It is drinking well as a mature syrah.

The richness the wine had in its youth is, unfortunately, gone. It's left with pleasant sourcherry and plum aromas and flavors. It doesn't really taste old, it's just not what it was in its youth. Drink these soon and hope for the best.

Color: medium/light ruby core -> diffuse light ruby rim. Relatively muted bouquet of plums, charcoal and black cherries. Not really getting into this . . . rather foursquare, chunky fruit and ashy tannins with a fairly short finish. Surprising since I've enjoyed other vintages of Syrah from Rocca. Perhaps a bad bottle or in a bad place at the moment but I think this is probably representative.

up to 89 after sitting opened and upright for more than a day; may have been corked and we did notice a thin film of something on the sides of the bottle; was to be the signature wine for a meatloaf dish that took almost all day to prepare; all was not lost as the wine used for the glaze saved the evening and the next day.

Might have scored and tasted better but I popped and poured this bottle. Was definately integrating and softening in the glass. Dark purple color and dark fruits. Some dark chocolate and dirt notes. Good acidity for food.

Muted nose and and small amount of grapey fruit on the palate with an abreviated finish. Flabby on day two. Perhaps past its prime. Drink now.

This baby delivered! Still youthful and exuberant, could easily go for a further five years. Wish I had more.

Decanted one hour. Light purple rim quickly moving to a beautiful black purple core. Rather subtle aroma of fresh oak. Immediate black cherry on the palate with a full, velvety, mouthfeel. Very nicely balanced with medium long finish.

Very soft, velvety, and mellow with smoke and cherry. Developed very nicely during the meal -- this was popped and poured but should have been decanted (something I'd normally do with a Rocca, but didn't have the chance this time).

Rich aromas and flavors, luscious spicy oaky toast, packed with black fruit and baking spices.

Great bottle of wine. Deep dark color. Nose of red fruit and earth. No fake candy in this wine. Fruit forward on the palate with a nice transition to a spicy long finish. Excellent mouth feel. Well made wine.

Definitely fruit forward new world style, nice oak, should get even better with a little time.

Bit too sweet a Syrah for my taste.
