Brewer-Clifton, Cargasacchi Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills

Popped and poured. Cherry, herbs, black tea come through. Medium to full bodied, sappy but not overdone fruits. This is a step down in intensity from the big brewer cliftons of yesteryear showing more balance. Still youthful and can age.

Burgundy color with a bouquet and flavor of raspberry, strawberry, plums, dry brown sugar, gout de terroir, and dilute allspice. Good balance with nice depth and nuance, and a moderate finish. I did not find it too light in body as other tasters did, but rounded.

DnP: berry notes on pour; ruby, earthy noted; medium bodied; zest licorice notes; nice finish; increased berry in glass; drinks well with salmon

I don’t get the thin characteristic others have noted, although I’d categorize this as more elegant than lush. Smooth with good concentration and no discernible heat.

msuwright nailed the descriptors on this wine. I'm not sure how much more I can add. It is lighter in style than I would have expected from Greg Brewer's wines, especially the ones he made at Melville. I hope this is more indicative of the vintage and that B-C is not going through a stylistic shift the same way that KB, Sea Smoke, Kistler etc have gone through. We decanted and drank over 3 hours. Nose of plums and spice. The palate was plum, cherry, tea and spice. Really nice finish. It came in a mystery case that I bought from a charity so unfortunately my only bottle. It is really an excellent pinot noir.

A well-aged Pinot that is a bit on the thin side, delivers some complexity, and should be drunk now. Light red in color, medium in body, nose of tart cherry, orange peel, and rosemary. Tastes of dried strawberry, sage, mint, and gravel, with a grainy finish that lingers pleasantly. 14.5% alcohol. I'm catching a little plum on the finish, which makes me think this is worth drinking now.

Good bottle. Was hoping for more acid. Salted caramel dessert brought a little acid out.

This is my first Brewer-Clifton tasting. I tried this with two other friends after decanting for two hours. Through the first glass, a layer of glycerin seems to coat every sip. After that, this thin layer seems to give way to some notes of strawberry (as noted by others) and a slight hint of pinot noir fruit. Central Coast Trip; 3/30/2014-4/1/2014 : Tasted in the Brewer-Clifton tasting room. Full bodied, long mouthfeel, Asian spices. This should be a great food wine. Needs time - drink 2015-2020.

Tasted at Brewer-Clifton. Medium ruby color. Pretty complex nose of dark berries, meat, smoke and some minerals. On the palate there are similar flavors and also some licorice. Medium+ body with medium-high acidity and medium+ tannin. The tannin is a little harsh at the moment, but there is a beautiful freshness and tension.
