So, the owner of K&L Wine Merchants - Clyde Beffa has made a living finding good 1997 Bordeaux’s after the fact in a difficult vintage. It is these kinds of buys ($17.99) that have keep me from opening other more prestigious wines too early in my early years of collecting. He still bats 1000. Drinking good for its age. Not that remarkable, but the years make up for that. Has high acidity.

Cork was in good shape, just a little red stain on the bottom. The nose wasn’t very expressive, showing some iron, blood, muted cassis fruit. Medium bodied, rather smooth, showing some dark cassis fruit and cedar with a bit of tannic bite and decent acidity. It has a matured aspect but is surprisingly youthful for a 23 years old wine from a mediocre vintage. Overall decent or pretty nice for a bdx that could have been over the hill.

Lätta/svaga aromer av svart vinbär, lite gräs, örter, mint. Tunn, torr, kort slut.

2003 Bordeaux is not the product of a vintage of the century. As a vintage, 2003 Bordeaux is uneven but the best wines are stunning examples of Bordeaux at its best. Off course the Chateau Grandis is not a prestige wine, and I first tried several bottles from 1998 and they were also dynamic & uneven, but the good ones were really good and the same goes for the "2003 vintage.
