Bodega y Viñedos Korta Carménère Barrel Selection Reserve

Deep brown, opaque. Aromatic nose, chocolate, ripe fruit. Full body, moderately flavored, high alcohol, subdued tannins, mild and short aftertaste. Acidic, moderately sweet, not bitter. Juicy, red fruit, chocolate. Good company to chicken.

I've had several of these now (this is my fourth) but have neglected to leave notes since the first. It's been consistently tasty every time. A big wine, but the powerful acidity goes a long way to cutting through the fat. Love the smoky, smoldering dark berry and plum fruit. There's a stony mineral/loamy earth note that settles in at the end.

Nice acidity, and a seductive, smoky character. The dark fruit is rich but not heavy or too sweet. Great balance and a fantastic value.
