Better with an hour of decanting. Matches, pear, slight nectarine/orange.

Day 1: decanted for over an hour and all I got was burnt matches. Gave up and had a beer. Will see if this is somewhere better on day 2. Otherwise I’m calling it flawed. Day 2: (left open bottle in fridge over night) reduction has seemed to finally burn off. Nose of steel wool, flint/smoke, lemon verbena. More citrus on the palate and high acid. Much better today than day 1.

deep gold tone. nose with matchstick and mushrooms in butter. crispy acidity and medium bodied. lemon juice and lemon pith showing on the flavor profile with plenty of mid palate salty savor. long finish. expect this will blossom significantly with years in the bottle.

Via Viticole: Bone dry and crunchy, Combe has a similar fruit profile to Arnaud Lambert with more reduction in the wine, leading to smoky, matchstick nuances. Time to turn some heads…2019 – 2033+

P&P Pale straw yellow color with a candied butterscotch (I know sounds strange) scent Light lemon to almost lemon grass on the nose as well Light up front but enticing. Mid plate goes to interesting fruit structure, then a good slight hint of creamy feeling carries flavors into a long finish of slight oak and ever so slight butter Ballard Canyon Santa Barbara
