Cargasacchi Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County

Well-made, but not exciting. Rather spicy nose, color a little on the light side. Not overly fruity; you can really taste the oak in this one. There's a slight bitterness on the finish. I suspect it has a few more years before it reaches its peak; the question is does it have the stuffing to develop into anything special? It seems a little thin and one-dimensional to amount to much, although it is pleasant enough drinking. Better Pinot out there …

meduim bodied tart cherry rhubarb with a real short finish. non exciting but non offensive. delicate flavors started to differentiate on day two. The strawberries and toasty oak came out a little bit which makes you appreciate this wine more.

As Below. Yummy. Not simple, but not complex.

Brian’s Very aromatic, but tighly wound pinot with strawberry, bright cherry, and spicy oak mth; very intense mth, but seemed like mostly from wood. High acidity, for sure. Not sure about this--trying to do too much with this otherwise prob. pretty nice, delicate red? Tasty, but young. Not what I was expecting. But also after a bunch of cab.and other stuff--not really into drinking more wine!

Bright red fruit, cola, hints of dark spices and brush on the nose, with a bit of heat. Lively acidity lends this wine vibrancy. Medium bodied, nicely structured, this finishes with fine, firm tannins which become slightly bitter. A bit soft and simple on the mid-palate. Overall, quite enjoyable.

About $45 retail. Tasted side by side next to the 2005 Santa Rita Hills bottling from Cargasacchi. The S.B.C. bottling was spicier. Red fruit, spices. Light-moderate oak.
