Young for sure. Needed some air and decanting, at least an hour, upon opening. Some dark berry/cherry notes, with leather and tobacco and noticeable raw wood. Good minerality. Could use few more years of cellaring. Rustic but approachable.

Walk around tasting. 5/6 wines of Vignamaggio. The best wine of the Chianti's, this flagship wine. Also here, the 2013 vintage boasts a very good wine!

PnD. Let air for 30 mins. Clear deep ruby. Clean medium intensity nose with aroma of cherry fresh and sour dried porcini clay strawberry cola coffee amaro and leather. Dry. High acid. Medium intensity. Medium tannins. Flavours of Bing cherry sour cherry dried cherry porcini amaro sage and Parmesan rind. Long finish. Very good. Old style but fresh. Really opens up with air. I like it but for the price I would stick with Nipozzano.

Blackberries and plums, a rich fruity smell. Some light oak influence. Quite full bodied, strong but silky tannins. Bright and concentrated Sangiovese. Slightly spicy and cedary. The bottle stood open breathing for several hours. Excellent. Although enjoyable young this wine would benefit from a good few years rest.

The bouquet is a bit rustic, some autumn forest, herbs and spices, pleasant oak, full bodied. Sticky and youthful tannin. Youthful and beautiful wine. Can easily last until 2020+. 89+

Weekly tasting group RWP #267: Tuscany (@ JdB) : In the bouquet dark berries, medicine, clove, cherries, oak and strawberries. On the palate juicy dark berries, herbs, round acidity and tannin with a firm bite. The fresh acidity makes this a beautiful wine

Fattoria Vignamaggio is located in Greve in the heart of Chianti - The Chianti Classico is made of Sangiovese and Merlot - a typically member of Classicos; dark ruby color with good legs - nose fruity with raspberry and blue violet - flavor still with tanins but smooth - good finish; will increase in the next 3 yrs

Cherries with a sweetish accent and good acidity. Decanted it for over an hour and it continued to improve in the glass. Good value.

James Suckling - Great Wines of Italy (SF) : Darker fruit (some merlot here). A bit closed down but well-structured.

Violett color, nice tone, light nose, quite balanced with berries and cherry, but a bit of dryness in the mouth I persoannly do not like too !much.
