Amazing value This is a very nice whisk(e)y to find on your porch for barely over $30 shipped. It's easy to drink neat, though the conventional wisdom for some people suggests mixing a spirit like this. There's plenty of spicy fruit on the nose and palate, along with toasted almonds. There's a tiny hint of smoke nudging out near the finish, but that could just be spicy esters. For the price, I'll happily drink this all the time.

Simple, smooth, sweet with a little spice, light and well balanced. If there is any peat here it's below any level my palate can detect. Quite possibly the only whiskey in the cupboard I'd consider taking with food. Way better than, and very different to, any of the usual Scottish blended suspects, but you're paying more. Definitely a different flavour profile from traditional Scotch whisky - very clean and bright with a slightly sweet and spicy finish. Its clear gold colour has a nose of basil, green apple and honey. The silky-smooth texture has hints of grapefruit, green grapes, peppermint, and thyme. It has a medium finish of vanilla, white pepper, and ginger. Decent...light, simpler, lacking any outstanding flavors yet keeping a well rounded smooth balance to it all makes it easily drinkable. Served on ice, but best not to as melted ice makes it too thin. Overall not bad, special fit for when you desire something light, similar to John Haig Club Single Grain Scotch Whisky.

Totalwine - world whisky From one of the Japanese whisky pioneer. Almost clear with pleasant aroma on fresh fruit side. Smooth

From memory --smooth and delicate. This was a beautiful dram. fruity and floral. Some cinnamon, hazelnuts. This was great.

Hitting my palate today with purity that is enjoyable. Those normal toxins in whisky are not present which is why I'm loving it. I've been tasting lots of Scotch and there seems to be poisons that turn me off, but here, they are distilled out. Loved it.

Nose of typical whiskey - almost bourbon. Yeast, tart, anise, sour, straw Strong, power of young and smooth of aged, mineral and caramel. (Basic shoulder shrugging)

From 50 ml. Golden-yellow color of Meyer Lemon. The nose is much more plump than I recall from prior drams. There is ripe pear, vanilla, clove, honey, incense, walnuts, taffy, and a swirling estery aroma. This is much less full through the mouth, starting thin and peppery. Medium gold color. Endless nose with perfume, marzipan, honey, chestnuts, lemon zest, sweetly malty and woody notes, cinnamon, varnish, an uncannily cool stone aroma, and a mizunara-imparted aroma of sandalwood incense. This enters the mouth subtly and cleanly, becoming tongue-coatingly heady and piquant at midpalate, packed with an intense richness of flavors. Light & bright, simple but delicious. Less peat than other Suntory whiskies

Not the nice yellow....light to medium viscosity Burnt oak, vanilla, some baking spices Fairly hot to the mouth, Fiery, medium belly burn. Some peat notes Tastes much like it smells. A little peppery. Medium plus finish Not my first choice when it comes to Japanese whiskey, but it will do on a zero degree night in Vancouver while smoking a R+J cigar.

Apple, peat, clearly Japanese and Yamazaki based. Sandalwood/mizunara oak is there. Really nice.

Touch more peat, profile wise this is clearly is showing the Yamasaki element. Mizunara oak/sandalwood.

Clearly grain dominated and not the most complex drink. Very light straw color, a summer drink for sure. Just the slightest hint of Hakushu and peat, but barely.

From 50 ml bottle (thanks ANA!), 43%. Rich nose of candy apples and almonds, accented by mizunara oak nuances of jasmine incense, as well as some pronounced stony aromas. The palate starts clean, before wood and spice aromas begin swirling at midpalate. This has a lingering finish with minerality and more exotic woody and spicy flavors. A little heavier on the mizunara than I recall but overall this is still balanced, beautiful, and always a pleasure to drink.

Whisky@Dale's (Quintara) : [43%] UHU, sweet ethylene, hay, flower. Rounded, sweet and grassy. Coconut cream, honey and candied winter-melon. Finishes elegant and clean with mandarin peel, and hints chocolate caramel. Lovely!

Whisky Evening! (Bukit Timah) : Sweet nose, clean, floral, Warm, even slightly smokey, delicate, smoke, caramel, Long linger finish, pure, clean. Exquisite!

Pale straw color. Sweet nose showing the Chita grain-dominated blend, with ample mizunara oak imparting a sandalwood nuance. This has a little bit of the green, resinous, pine smell of Hakushu, and a subtly fruity mango aroma. Steller, more apple fruit than tropical. Profile wise reminds me more of the Harmony than the 12 year. Complexity is however on par with the 12 year, better than the Harmony. Tasted blind, worth double the price of the 12? No. But an interesting drink and worth having none the less? Sure.

Medium-light marigold color. Subtle nose of vanilla, clove, Poire Williams, and apple pie. The palate is very smooth, having understated flavors of wood and caramelized fruit.
