Ledge Syrah Los Topos

Big, well made wine. Lush fruit, generous alcohol, and chewy tannins. Sums up many west-side Paso wines and this James Berry exemplifies the style. Some age is starting to play with the the freshness a bit. This is a great example of the Paso conundrum. It's a big wine, plenty of structure, but in the end they tend to age a bit disjointed. The fruit starts to lose its lustre, the tannin remains and the alcohol is ever present.

This lighter colored syrah was a pretty unique wine. It had amazing depth and focus for being so light on its feet. Plenty of complexity without the weight. Notes of savory herbs and game were in the forefront with the big Paso fruit held behind. Great finish and wine.
