Gave this a good couple of hours air in a decanter which seemed to open up the wine well, lovely aromatics, just a touch of tannin left. I think I'd prefer this with a little more age, but certainly starting to drink now

Dried out cork but wine fine. Beautiful amber colour, almost tawny. Cherry and vanilla smell with a rich smokey palate. Fine tannins. This has the complexity of a tawny port but is only 14%. It appears to have been aged 4 years in new barriques and one year in big old-wood botte, giving it that character. I'm surprised that they described this as traditional, as its all about the oak.
