Wonderful balance and long finish. This seems to be in a sweet spot. Some fruit, but some secondary notes too. Still very tensile and alive. I don't see it declining anytime soon, but also can't imagine it would get much better. This is another data point that supports Scallop Shelf as my favorite Peay wine.

Very pretty bottle that’s just clinging to the edge of ripeness. Bosky aromas of hedge fruit, a whiff of pepper, bracken and wild flowers make up the airy and expansive nose. The palate offers more wild berry and loamy flavors with little incandescent flashes of Pinot spice. Fine acidity and mostly resolved structure. Each sip seems prettier than the last. Fine pairing with pork cutlets with pecan mint pesto, black-eyed pea salad and sautéed string beans. Really enjoyed this. Heck …

Superb! Has with Christmas dinner of seared scallops (pun intended) and NY strip. Well rounded with integrated fruit and a delightful finish.

Prior bottle was almost 16 months ago and this wine continues to show well. Red berry, red cherry, vanilla and oak on the nose. Medium bodied with tart, yet bright red berry upfront. Roundness develops quickly as it brings in red cherry through the middle showing good contrast and density. Tart notes, especially cranberry come in on the backside. Acidity is a bit more integrated than with the prior bottle and finishes with light spices, mineral and earth notes. In …

went to drink one of these and must have already drank them :(. Total bummer as I was looking forward to it! At least I have several other vintages still in the cellar.

Red cherry, cranberry, vanilla and rose notes on the nose. Medium bodied (13.1% ABV) with red cherry upfront and showing a nice mixture of cool, smooth depths and more lively brightness. Needs about two hours to fully integrate and then the mid-body shows increased depth and quite pleasant roundness. Cranberry, strawberry and orange rind on the back side and into the finish where they mix with minerals, earth and light spices. Slightly less complex and not quite the polish or …

From a magnum. Not a wow wine but better than expected and perfect with the excellent cuisine at Little Gem. Ample delicious fruit. A well balance, mature wine with nicely integrated tannins. At peak. - 93

A year ago we thought the finish was just a touch bitter but that's faded leaving the wine in very good shape. Still a lot of nice fruit, this should drink well for several more years.

Red berry and red cherry on the nose. Medium bodied (13% ABV) and opened two hours ahead of time and then drunk over the course of a bit over four additional hours (six total). Showed bright red berry upfront, followed by deeper red cherry and then nicely tart acidity along with cranberry towards the back. Finishes with integrated spices, light earth notes and very good good mineral qualities. The longer it was open, the more depth it seemed to develop …

Second time I've had scallop shelf - spectacular wine in balance to last many more years - clear winner of '11 w/a Russian river/ '07 Stan dish Mendocino and a few others - lovely wine from one of my top 3 Pinot wineries

A nice silkiness to this bottle, elegant with a rather linear focus, medium/light body, nicely balanced. Not a fruit bomb, much to its credit.

Opened a 2011 Ama and Scallop Shelf. Disappointing first several hours re finish (bitter) and not very pinot like. Saved for second night and much more enjoyable in every respect. Not sure if it's a reflection of 2011 challenges.....? Gotta let them breath though!

Cherry skin, cranberry and orange rind aromas are supported by sandalwood and cedar notes. The mouth features a tea, brass/copper and dried leaves.

already getting better. light in color but classic scallop shelf fruit and aroma so coming into its own now. I also get a hint of rasberry that I'm not use to in this wine from previous vintages. This remains my favorite wine vintage to vintage.

This is one of my all-time favorite wines year after year and 2011 (despite the year's challenges) knocks it out of the park. Supple balance of fruit and a touch of minerality. Delightful. Andy Peay should run for President. On second thought...he's needed in Cloverdale!

This will get better, but based on Alan's TN I opened it. Had with grilled pork chops. Initially it showed cherry, but then raspberry dominated both the palate and nose. Toward the end of the bottle hours later, some tannins started to get mouth drying telling me to hold the other bottles for some time. Very good bottle. Just checked a previous TN and realized I was going to wait until 2018 for the next bottle. Messed up there.

Pulled this on the early side because it happened to be sitting at home, but it wasn't a mistake to open it. Fairly dark ruby in color, plenty of medium intensity fruit, leaning away from cherry toward the dark raspberry side with a streak of strawberry, and some nice fall spice notes chiming in on the finish; lightly fine tannins, beautiful medium acidity, a delicious Pinot, and a wonderful effort in a more difficult vintage.

Nose of forest, raspberry, and cinnamon. Palate is wooly, like a Pommard, with raspberry and prune. The body is Light and acidity, smooth texture. Finish is medium +, no evolution. A good everyday drinker, but poor QPR.

translucent purple color, wonderful fruit aroma, lighter taste, might drink well younger. Not as impressive as other vintages I've tried but maybe just drinking a little young.

Ripe cherry nose and palate. Rich delicious and just enough acid to avoid tiring the palate. Really tasty but for $60 not a tremendous value.

Bright crunchy red fruits: raspberries, cherries, some oak treatment, very good, definitely classic sonoma coast, but without a ton of complexity or anything that made it really stand out. Kind of expensive for what it is. Would make more sense if it was $40 or so.

At the Kitchen in Boulder for our 15th anniv. A great wine, very light, a lot of crunchy pomegranate, strawberry and cherry. I think will be even better in a few years. Need to seek this out.

Best weight in a wine I have tasted in a while. It floats in your mouth. Very enjoyable though not the knockout i thought it was earlier.
