Craggy Range, Les Beaux Cailloux, Gimblett Gravels

Nose is very spicy, oak, vanilla. Some ripe stone fruits, creamy peach, but feels primarily oak influenced. Palate is broad and ripe, lots of flavor, ripe citrus, ripe peach, apricot, toast, cream, yogurt, leesy, nutty, hazel nut. Very good but very generically done, could be from anywhere, lacks distinction.

Yellow, Aromas, of lemon, stonefruit, butterscotch, hint of florality. Generous palate, rich fruit, almonds, biscuit, mealyness, silky creamy texture. Well proportioned Chardonnay. With food, the acidity and mineral aspects came to the fore. Beautiful long finish. Outstanding, with plenty of life left.

Aromas of ripe lemon, some stonefruit, cream and toasty oak, accompanied on the palate by an array of savoury flavours:licorice, white pepper and roasted almonds. This seems to be at a sweet spot now.

rich lemon, nut and restrained oak flavours with a creamy, silky texture with a beautifully balanced acid backbone. actually tasted quite steely when matched with a rich, buttery sauce. long finish. beautiful, perfectly proportioned wine. very classy.

Pronounced nose of lemon, peaches and savory oak. Developing. Medium (-) acid, medium alcohol, medium (+) intensity, medium (+) body, lemon, peach, cream, some savory oak driven notes, with even some tannin evident. Perhaps a tiny bit out of balance? though all the right components are there. Long, with potential for further ageing, though lack of acid a concern. Very Good. Screwcap.

Prince Saturday tasting - Random selection (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Aromas of lees, yoghurt, slight cheese, tending to funky notes, muted stone fruit, cream, butter. In the mouth the wine lack acidity and is broad and flabby on the palate with buttery and leesy notes. Long finish. But…something is not right for me.

Very light yellow color; almond, light toast, tart pear nose; tart pear, apple, mineral palate with lowish acidity; medium finish (13.4% alcohol; 10 months in oak, 42% new) 88+ points

Pale straw colour. Lovely bouquet of citrus, honeysuckle, peach and nectarine. Also some blanched cashew nuttiness, wet stone and vanilla (but oak reasonably restrained). However bouquet faded a little on the second evening. Relatively sweet on entry and across palate. Ripe, full and viscous, quite complex and refined, in proportion with a nice interplay of flavours. Quite a delicate wine. Acidity is low. Complex wood and solids characters play a major role in the taste profile. Certainly a good wine, but I'm note sure where this is going. Seems a bit expensive for what it is.
