Father John Pinot Noir Reserve Oehlman Vineyard

I was hoping to make it 18 months before popping my last bottle, and I did it (barely). 90 minute decant, 60 F. Pale garnet color. Intense raspberry, mushroom, dried herbs and violets on the nose. Alcohol and oak well integrated. Body a bit bigger than I remember, say medium+. Light soft tannins. Lovely pure red fruits on the palate with a touch of spice. Longer (90 minute decant) this time to allow some VA to blow off. 57 F. Nose was much more expressive with the lovely raspberry, strawberry and freshly cut flowers still evident, but no cherry cola notes this time. Alcohol and acidity again very well integrated. For such a light-bodied wine, the big fruit on the palate seems almost incongruous, to the wine's benefit. Assertive raspberry fruit, hints of dark-chocolate covered strawberry and earthy funk. (From memory). Great wine. What a surprise! Beautiful red berries, strawberries, cherry and spice. And a floral nose. I wish I had bought more of these bottles, at $15 / each on close-out.

Short decant. Pale garnet color. Lovely delicate wine. Strawberry, raspberry with notes of cherry cola and freshly cut flowers on the nose. Explosion of beguiling red fruits on the palate, a hint of sweet asian spice and well-integrated acidity. Light, soft mouthfeel with a lingering finish.
