This is my one and only bottle of Delectus which was given to me circa 2002. Finally got around to opening it with some NY Strip steaks and the wine was very, very nice. Balanced and definitely a Cal-Cab which tends toward the more restrained/elegant side of the Cab profile. Not at all a F-Bomb. The oak does peek through from time to time, but that is more of a nit since it wasn't distracting. Probably at peak now although …

A nice smoky nose of tobacco, leather, cherries and licorice. Very different on the palate, with the fruit somewhat faded and an earthiness and astingent acidity that left me somewhat reminded of a Chianti. Very strange, but good and interesting.
