Sehr kräftige Farbe. Die Nase ist Riesling pur, Apfel, Pfirsich, Mirabellen, sehr reife Frucht, auch be, ein Hauch Botrytis, gereifte Noten, Petrol. Im Gaumen mit markanter Säure, trocken, gradlinig, straff, nervig, gut strukturiert, grosser Spannungsbogen, gute Länge. Ein Wein mit Charakter, allerdings weiter entwickelt als erwartet. Part of a tasting dinner with colleagues: Decanted. Deep gold appearance. Classic creamed nut, engine oil/petroleum character, palpable freshness and a sense of delicacy. More creamed nut and fruit kernels, citrus and wet stones… a general sense of ripeness but delicate and fine. Palate has a youthful prettiness – surprisingly peachy and sweetly perfumed, then goes through some gears and builds in intensity quickly. Pale lemon colour. N: pronounced! Wow, leaps out the glass. Pithy white grapefruit, mandarin, preserved lemon, a hint of something fleshier, sweeter, like vanilla or custard pear. Complex and alluring. P: high acidity - obviously - which still has a biting, pithy edge to it. Bracing and grippy! Really textured, has very solid bones here which suggests this is even a bit young, or full acid-heads. But lovely canvas of flavours - bracing citrus with a suggestion of creamier notes, …

The ‘2013 Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Großes Gewächs’ a rich and opulent dry Pfalz Riesling, from one of Germany’s oldest vineyards (in former times this small vineyard belonged to the goods of the Jesuit monastery in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, hence the name). Appearance: deep yellow color with golden reflections. Nose: complex bouquet of peach, mango, butter flower and nuances of incense and petrol. Beautiful wine. Medium lemon colour. Full, round ripe character. Rich aromatics of lemon + grapefruit peel, tea tree oil, some stone fruit, fresh apricot. Lovely stoney grippy texture. Slight creaminess on finish. Long finish. Definitely has years of ageing potential but in a good place right now.

Die Lage ist hier Programm! Hohe Mineralität, straffe aber perfekt eingebundene Säure, eine gewisse Dunkelheit und Bitterkeit kommt durch. Richtig knackig mit Zug und tollem Trinkfluss. Sehr lecker!! 94+P

This is sharp Pfalz at its best. Still too young . But made a good step in the right direction. Medium body on the mineral side with a big scoop of acid. Very tense and precise. Wait a year for the next one. Will improve.93+

Another opportunity to taste this wine in its infancy - this time again a bit tight, but revealing a bit more of its power and structure. Lots of mineral depth on the nose, mixed with lime fruit/zest, white stone fruit. On the palate tight, still powerful and grippy. Impressive finish. Lots of grip and energy. Very long. 92-93+

Very mineral and tight, less expressive compared to the GG presentation last year. Very bright and pure. There is impressive tension and length, but it currently seems to have closed down a little. Needs time. 90-92+

Voung , acid , Young , acid !!!!!! No fun to drink right now. Wait 5 years and more

Litt marsipan på duft mellom all sitrusfrukten. Nokså moderat på duft. Distinkt og deilig saltpreg i munnen. Markant og frisk syre, men uten at det blir ubehagelig. Middels fylde. Bitterpreg på ettersmaken som minner om rheinhessen. God vin, trenger nok en del tid. Litt forknytt på dette stadiet.

A little leaner and more precise than Reiterpfad, more lime fruit, crushed stone, cold cream. Powerful minerality on the palate, bright acidity, saline with lovely length. Wonderful tension. 92-93+(+)

Less powerful and more charming than its neighbour Pechstein. Slightly riper fruit, creamy, a little less saline, good acidity - all very well balanced. Very long and lingering. 91-92+
