Piemonte (Barolo & Barbaresco) tasting (at my home) : Color: Deep garnet with a brick-red hue. Nose: Complex aromas of dried cherry, plum, licorice, tobacco, and leather. Palate: Full-bodied with firm tannins and a long, lingering finish. Overall: A powerful and elegant wine with great aging potential. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, with firm tannins and a long, lingering finish. It has complex aromas of dried cherry, plum, licorice, tobacco, and leather. The wine is still young and needs …

A calm and even with of earthy nuance and red fruits. No artifice here, intriguing plant matter notes come to the fore with air. Mid-weight, beautifully balanced and a fresh, minerally finish.

In a really nice place. Quiet elegant, with a faint whiff of Indian spice development. There are red, jube-like fruit aromas and flavours. It has a suggestion of tobacco and plenty of earth. It is savoury on the back-end, beautifully balanced and proportion and immensely satisfying. Ready to go.

Le Langhe 2019; 10/26/2019-11/1/2019 (Le Langhe, Piedmont, Italy) : Deep rich smell, rose, lavender. Black cherry, chocolate and coffee liqueur sweets in the mouth. Lots of structure but the tannins are sufficiently softened to make this enjoyable. Long finish. Excellent wine.

Day 1 in Piedmont (Vietti, Prunotto, & Bartolo Mascarello) (Piedmont, Italy) : Lots of elegance and freshness. This was more floral than the 2011 Colonnello and had a really nice core of cherry/blackberry/lavender/spice. We debated whether this would eclipse the 2008 Colonnello and the general consensus was that it probably would not. That said, this was very good.
