Koves-Newlan Zinfandel

Nose a bit volatile, with some dill. Alcohol showing on palate through the red fruit.

No notes taken; this is written days later. Plush, straightforward fruit. American oak still evident.

Plenty of American oak on the nose, like smelling shredded coconut (not so much of the dill that I noted last time); also some nice raspberry fruit. Palate is nice, balanced, red fruits, decent finish with supple tannins. Pretty good zin, but I'm not crazy about American oak.

Enjoyed this at Brian's at the "Long Beach Grand Cru Leftovers" party. Lots of fruit forward and tobacco.

Fairly nice wine. The American oak is not obtrusive, just a very slight note of dill on the nose. Some chocolate on the palate. If I were to fault the wine, I'd say I would prefer some spice character, which is not evident (spice is what I like in Zin).
