Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Canet

The one at Xi Yan (XY 19th Anniversary) : Vibrant bouquet with yuzu and sudachi at the fore alongside unripe apples, pineapples, and starfruit. Palate marked by good acidity and ripeness, showcasing harmonious balance, tropical fruit concentration leading towards a lasting finish. This was more 2016 Jacques Carillon than the Puligny Perrieres

Drinking beautifully but will improve further for at least a few years.

A shockingly good example from a difficult white wine vantage, this shows attractive white flower and light peach notes with gentle but insistent minerality. Lovely wine.

Burgundy night : Brought as an aperitif by a generous friend. Slightly green on the nose, rounded texture with some nutty flavours. Guessed a weaker vintage but went for '11 Meursault because of the golden colour. Still very drinkable, but not the depth I expected from Carillon.

Some had worried whether the wood would integrate on this and I think that it now has. Full bodied white burg with good fruit, oak present and a wheatey sub flavor that I rather enjoyed. Recommend drinking these soon while still fresh

Ripe lemon, dry white peach, quenching minerality and all in all, balanced and light on its' feet. Bit of a bite there for me in the mid-palate, but give it time. For me, quite good.

The Crus of Puligny-Montrachet (Berry Bros & Rudd) : Gutless, and disappointing for its level. Floral, gentle nose is a little vegetal and has no oak influence. Takes the back seat on the palate, with refreshing lemon/lime. Wood doesn't feel integrated yet. If you have this wine, leave it at least a couple of years.

Pure white peach aromas and flavours. Very mineral with exquisite balance. The finish is precise and chalky.
