Bottle in perfect conditions. PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Bright medium ruby to the eyes, young colour. Delicate red fruits (cherries and strawberries) that is well integrated. Some menthol and liquorice too. Understated but quite a deep nose. Very impressive with its minerality and acidity. Less fruits on the palate in a good way. Silky and extremely soft tannins especially for a 2005. Medium length. Very classic and very enjoyable indeed - not an easy thing to achieve …

Tasting at Maison Leroy (Auxey-Duresses) : Tasted at Maison Leroy. Popped and poured. Mostly black fruit aromas and favors here, with some red cherry hints on palate. Very dense and meaty, this is more about power vs finesse right now, but with the underlying structure to last a long time and evolve.

Pre-Christmas get-together at 13C (Vancouver, BC) : Nose is funky, a little warm, but nice enough. The palate, however, is stripped of fruit and dilute. The consensus was this bottle had been heat damaged. Too bad.
