Cascina Corte Dogliani Superiore Pirochetta Vecchie Vigne

Purple-black plum, leather, faintly bretty, bitter herbs, cocoa powder. Palate is textured and leathery, finishing very dry, with rustic tannins edged by more of that plum character. Oak isn’t quite fully integrated. Probably has 2-3 years of improvement ahead. Second bottle: Has more brett and VA. Not as good of a showing as the first, perhaps would have benefitted from a couple years.

Dark red in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim. Beautiful nose and medium plus in body. Dry on the palate with medium acidity. Showing light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper, vanilla and spices. Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a good quality wine with nice complexity and balance. Spicy and tangy. Very tasty. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Dolcetto grapes, from 60 year old vines, were aged for …
