Stellar bottle of wine. Drinks more like a cab (dare I say). Nose is dark fruit, earth, and minerals. Big but elegant taste long finish.

This wine is a monster. It pours inky black, with a nose of sweet blackberry liqueur. The palate is very fruit driven, again I get blackberry, with some smoke and pepper. Although my taste is changing over the years, I still have an appreciation for these wines, and the best versions ability to be "balanced". Checking in at the decade mark and find this wine still going strong. Tannins have fully resolved leaving this silky smooth with a nice acid backbone that keeps it really fresh at this age. All the fruit is holding nicely and can see this going another 10 years perhaps. Congrats to Jordan Fiorentini and the Epoch team for another long lived wine.

First of the 2011's. Really enjoyed this wine. Brought to restaurant for wifes birthday; filet for her, pork chop for me. Paired really nicely. This was a bit unexpected for me, as the fruit was more subdued than normal for Epoch. Made it very approachable.

Same as other comments. Beast. I think this is the best of the Epoch lineup. Nose wasn't really there tonight and complexity isn't quite at the level of some of the "culty" type big reds in Paso, etc. Still very nice and easy to drink.

After a poor Cab showing last night, this wine really made up for that disappointment. Beautiful black cherry and touch of earth in the nose. Suave mouthfeel. Big, but not too big. Long long finish with really good acidity showing up at the end. This can age much longer, but it's impressive now and not too early to open it. Delicious!

Stacy doesn't like Syrah, but she enjoyed this one. Has nice scorched berry elements in the nose, then packed mid-palate of fruit and tar, nice 30+ second finish. Great syrah.

We drank this bottle last night at a favorite local restaurant. It went pretty well with a number of dishes but is a pretty intense wine. We bought this almost 5 years ago in the tasting room at which time my palate may have gravitated to a riper style. Nonetheless it is a tasty bottle that was drinking well and was fun. I would not hold it any longer though.

Vindredi (Rhone Valley: Gigondas, Cornas, Crozes-Hermitage, St. Joseph) (Bellevue, WA) : Tasted blind. Dense and juicy, with plum, blackberry and spice. Modern, with a bit of oak.

Tasted on opening and it was pretty disjointed with in your face alcohol. After about a 2 hour slow O standing in the cellar it came together nicely. Had good fruit up front with a more complex mid palate, plenty of tannins but not overwhelming. I would say to drink now with a long slow O or decant but probably will still improve slightly with another year or so.

Damn, this is a big wine! Blackberry and blueberry pie with black pepper, earth, licorice, and tar notes. Very tight in the beginning but over the evening unfolded into just a lovely wine with a beautiful long finish.

Big wine, great texture and balance right now. Allow to open but once ready this is a stunner with dense dark fruit, chalky tannins and terrific acid profile. Still a lot of life ahead of it.

Finally popped open over dinner celebrating a buddy having a baby. Inky, brooding, chewy. Tannins still pronounced, but not over the top. Went wonderful with the pork loin and flat iron steak.

Very good, fruit forward Syrah. Those looking for an earthy, leathery Syrah should look elsewhere--this wine is definitely a California-styled Syrah on the sweeter side. It's ready to drink and a winner all the way.

Opened by Dan. First time I have had a wine from this producer. Decanted 2.5 hours. Drank this after the Gardine CdP and they couldn't have been more different. This was a bruiser but not over the top. Inky black color. Ripe black fruit with cassis and licorice. Full bodied. probably could use more aging but I don't have a track record to be sure. 91 points.

HdR Opening Tasting : This seems to be drinking in a good place now. It seems more extracted than many 11's but that isn't a bad thing especially in that vintage. Good black raspberry fruit, some blueberries, a bit of pepper. Mild tannins. This is the vintage to be drinking now.

HdR Opening Tasting : I had just had my last bottle of Block B, so it was cool to taste 09-11. Nice ripe fruit. Black raspberries, blue berries with some chocolate. This is still a very big wine and would use more cellaring. Great acidity though to see it through.

Warm and inviting, this rich syrah is exuberant and fruit forward. The alcohol is 15.9, but it doesn't come across hot. There is an enticing floral component that encourages reflection and keeps one reaching for the glass. Highly recommended!
