I just don't know what to make of this wine. Very floral nose but quite tannic. I want to like it but can't find a way to do so. One of those "I should know better" when Jon sends the email extolling how wonderful it is.

Correct Bourgueil, with raspberry, green pepper and asparagus Better decanted, there is a bit of sediment at cellar temperature

this is very good. and great price point around $15. i wish i had more. the nose is a bit stinky funky weird initially. barnyard, animal scents, and herbal minty/green things. nose is a little closed tho too. the palate is kind of tight in a good way esp for a wine at this price and has a nice minty thing going on. the fruit is there but drink this up, can't imagine it aging well.

Damien Lorieux makes wines that are incredibly robust in structure in their youth and this is no different. This is an impossibly structured and hard as nails wine for under $14. The aroma is dead on Bourgueil, showing green bell peppers, soft potting soil, and some gravel dust. Palate entry starts soft and medium bodied, but if you hold it in the mouth the tannins just build and build... with aeration you get very nice dark berry tones, plenty of …
