Pleasant surprise considering vintage and age. Tannins were resolved, but taste was not flabby. The nose is rather subtle, but does involve some spice, smoke, oak, & cherry. This has a tart cherry with spice flavor, with a fairly heavy oak influence. Some green forest floor & smoke hides in the background. Enjoyable dinner wine tonight consumed at about 60 degrees.

Gotta give this wine credit. It was much better than I was anticipating. Not outright amazing on the nose, but a nice balance of slightly ripe fruit and subtle spice with hints of caramel on the palate. Actually stood up to food quite well. A really nice effort considering '07.

Pretty tight when opened, showing some tart fruit and up-front oak. This balanced out the more it saw air, now it is 4 hours after opening: The nose is showing some deep red fruit, like old strawberries, maybe even a little strawberry jam. Some mushroom-y, forest floor stuff shows as well but super integrated with the fruit. There is some old roses too, like when the roses are old and wilted but still wet. I love the way this smells, …

Nice fruit with berries dominating. Extremely well balanced pinot with a nice finish. This was very tasty. The price point seems a bit high, i think, though. While it was very good, i expected more.

nice berry/cherry on the nose backed up by an earthy undertone that made this a nice compliment to exotic mushrooms. The wine has soft tannins and formidable acidity which also lends itself to food. Over the course of the evening the fruit faded, leaving only the " forrest floor". By the wine makers own admission, the 2007 vintage presented challanges.Not Elk coves best effort, but an enjoyable wine.

Was a plain red color with light brown edges. Had varying smells of cola, smoke, and green pepper. Tasted a bit thin, with some blackberry flavor and a hint of spice. The finish was light with some eartiness and a bit vegetal as well as being a little dry. Overall, it lacked much fruit flavor and the combination of other flavors was unappealing. Willamette Valley Visits 6-09 (Local OR Wineries) : The nose contains blackberries and other dark fruits along with a bit of heat and a hint of some nice acidity. As a surprise, I thought that the fruits on the palate were more red than dark. The fruit is gentle and the wine is rich with a nice tannic structure.
